just a question... my aerocharger pump is down and needs a rebuild.. so kinda wondering how much work it takes and if its possible to retrofit a garret turbo w/ oil res to all the aero electronics and what not.. and get up running in less than a month... has any one done this?

buy another aero and when you get it back you have a spare. or sell the spare when it comes back. you will be out the same as if you bought a garret.

I have brought this up to brad in the past, with all the kits they have up here, it sure would be nice to have a few spare kicking around north of the boarder, in Alberta or bc... So when things go south there can be a loaner out to you in a few days max

i ended up buying a spare but still have not used it

Ya i kinda figured that would be the response.. ya i could throw a bag of cash at it and be in the same situation.. so if im doin that why not try a garret? Then at least i could have a side by side comparison of how they run.. I like the way the aero runs and i have got good mileage out of it but its a hit and miss on how it runs. Some days good some days bad and once in awhile awesome. I did some hunting around and i could get all nessesary parts to do it for just over the cost of the rebuild.. The thought of a discreet cold air intake behind the headlights would be kinda nice... the only thing the aero kit is missing, and no i'm not interested in putting a intake sticking out where my knee smashes everytime i hit a biggie.. dunno how its gonna go.. Decisions decisions lol

Hey, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Sent you a PM, we'd love to see what we can do about some of the consistency issues you'd been having. You should be covered for 50% off repair discounts under our warranty, and turnaround shouldn't be all that long either.

Also if you're interested, there is an Aerocharger cold-air intake in the works and we're anticipating a mid-season release once we're happy with it. It'll be located well away from the knee area :)

The ONLY way to get a upper hand on consistency is constant charge tube temp this is the biggest part of the puzzle. Other than run the big 66 on 4 lbs on a 800 just my experience, water to air with dedicated cooler and pump and run methal hydrate as a fluid in the system worked the best for MY app.

Have you checked if your veins on turbo or sticky or stuck in the closed position? Not allowing it to make boost.... If you take the small cap off the diaphragm, does the plunger go in and out, or is it stuck in the in postion?

all charge hoses hooked correctly and no leaks, forget any secondary injector wiring harness, exhaust cracks or leaks:D

yes it still runs.. starts first pull as per usual, idles ok, lifts to 5000 and as soon as its time to build boost it falls on its face. thought it was dess key. nope new key still the same. fuel box was only working part of the time, so new box again.. im hoping it was not fueling and it will be all good today.. i will post as soon as i know.

no codes when on buds.. started with old setup original fuel box.. paid to upgrade from 11 fuel box it was hanging two blue leds on idle. at least a little boost and popping and farting . so got new 14 box intermittant power.. now third try on new box again.. still hoping.. starting to worry i've scarred my pistons from jerking around with it not running right..

Wouldn't worry about scoring a piston, they etec has a ton of safety features to prevent this.

has anyone adjusted the vanes incorrectly, screw the diaphragm screw in a bunch and see if that help.

What at does you O2 sensor showing for readings when it falls on its face.

Wish you were closer, it sounds like something being missed... I would think even with fuel controller not working that sled would build some boost, for a while, don't give up, have you gave brad a call

does the boost guage show a boost when it falls off. try adding more fuel on the 5th setting and moving the 6th setting higher also. make sure the vane adjustment is between 2 and 3 turns in. Also make sure you aren't hitting rev limter when punchng it. Im sure your not but thought its worth a mention. good luck.

Is not 5000 the rave valves are to start opening if they dont move no place for exhaust to go, my 900 cat when the servo motor froze up same symtoms you need some place for exhaust to go.

checked it all, after the new fuel controller was installed that part is finally consistent, powering up everytime now.. sled pulls to 6200rpm builds two lbs and thats it. Something must have happened internally to the pump when the motor on the last sled dropped, So finally just sent the pump in for a rebuild cant see it being anything else. sure glad i have a spare sled. thanks for the tips.
