Just spoke to Jason Nixon on this issue. He said,
Most meetings are not public I raised concerns about that. We managed to get some public meetings which are listed in that post. First one is Wednesday. But yes AEP is sticking with most meeting being invite only.

Why do you think the NDP only wanted invite only meetings. What kind of democracy works behind closed doors. We finally have public meetings and its looking like a good crowd for tomorrow evening.

It’s communism is what it is, they called and said they’d value everyone’s opions on it, so I got to speak with a guy than it had to go to the moderator all I was concerned about hunting and fishing and quadin, and he said sure that’s a great question we’ll wait for ms phiyllips and everyone that got to speak were for it to go through, mine didn’t get to be heard along with 22,000nother Albertans concerned with it, we had an option to leave a voice mail so I left I nice one

The NDP is determined to push through the Bighorn Park Proposal against the will of the people no matter what we say. How many bribes and kickbacks have they received from Y2Y AND CPAWS . Shannon Phillips had her town hall telephone meeting on Dec. 13 and managed to get 10 callers out of 10 supporting her plan. At the public meeting in Rocky there were 4 out of 200 people supporting her. Its obvious the bitch pre screened all the callers. She delete all negative comments on her web page and has blocked comments on her web page.She is trying to completely ignore the people who live here. This proposal has nothing to do with conservation. She wants huge tourism and the bitch absolutely hate O.H.V.s They have no management plans at all and have told stake holders that they will make a plan after they push the park through. I have been talked to some people from the stake holder invite only meetings that said she had zero support in those meetings. The public meeting in Rocky was a joke. All that was there was a display showing what they want to do to the Bighorn. No different than the online presentation that we had all read. Shannon Phillips still refuses to consult with the public. She said on her telephone meeting that she wont close OHV trails but we all know how she lied to the residents of southern Alberta when she rammed through the Castle Park. She absolutely lied and as soon as it was a park she destroyed the OHV trail network. The proposal has nothing to offer Albertans that isnt already there. We dont need another Kananaskis or Banff. If people are unwilling to share the Bighorn for multi use then they should go to the parks we already have.

Write a letter to your local newspaper or television station. Let them know that the government is ignoring democratic process and needs to have this brought to the public’s attention.

I am contacting you in the hope , you will shine the light on the non democratic way the Alberta environment minister is holding public consultation meetings.
First off meetings were set up that were by invite only and not even close to being equal representation from both sides. The only groups allowed input were proponents of the plan to restrict access to the bighorn area.
Secondly , after much uproar the NDP decided to hold “open to the public” meetings. However the same scenario is playing out. The only groups allowed any airtime are again , the supporters of the NDP plan. Of the total number of people that attended the latest meetings, not one single person from the “nay” side was allowed to speak.
The online surveys that the government has produced , are being ignored , as the majority of people are against the proposal.
I beg of you to use your voice to show how truly disgraceful this government is conducting themselves. If you , or any one you know , values the democratic process you surely will focus your reporting on the upcoming “ public consultation” meetings.
Whether you are for or against the proposal, this is truly a travesty of the democratic process in Alberta. I can provide you with times and locations.
