What are your thoughts on the olympics coming back to Canada? Are we as a country financially ready for that debt burden. It seems that quite a few Calgarians are against it. Who all made it to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver?

Im a huge olympic game fan.

With olympic park already in Calgary whats the cost of upgrading it to support the potential event. If actually hoping it will go ahead if they reuse the existing facility. If they decide to build a new one than I dont think it’s financially a good idea.

If the Calgary games are held id definitely go, I missed out on making it to the Vancouver games.

i don't think it would be advisable to host this event with the current political climate. will be next to impossible to keep athletes safe as well as the general public. gain verses cost is not worth it. let someone else have the pleasure.

I read an article yesterday and the Federal government won't sign a guaranteed security agreement until January. The Libtards just seem to be pushing and stalling. This should all be done before the vote next week so the people have all the information at hand.

I would like to see the Olympics in Calgary but I'm afraid that the workings of the two governments above Calgary are not really supportive of Calgary's position. They are not on the band wagon and seem to secretively want to spend money elsewhere.

I guess looking at it from a taxpayer standpoint has Vancouver and outlying areas benefited at all from when they were held there. Did it change calgary after they were there. 8 billion doesn’t just fall off a tree. Long term effects, just debt?

I'd love to go see the games in Calgary as I also missed out on the Vancouver games. I think the legacy of both the 88 and 2010 Olympics have been very positive for both cities. Ordinarily I would still be against it as the costs of hosting have gotten way out of hand however the Calgary bid seems to be very cost conscious which I think is needed if the Olympics are to maintain long-term viability.

You gotta pay to play. It’s the only way I see there being a cost effective answer. Long term commitment from other country’s. From all country’s participating. A financial commitment. A massive pool of money.

I am one of those huge fans of the Olympics and support it 100%. I did go to the Vancouver games and all I can say is wow what memories. There is very little in this world that brings humanity together in peace without the use of guns, military etc etc and crate a sense of pride for your country. Has the costs gone out of control..... yup but we have spent money in the country for worse things. I also went to the Calgary games then about a year later was travelling overseas and remember people telling me they never heard of Calgary prior to the games and would love to visit one day. I think Vancouver has benefited from the games on many sides including infrastructure, tourism and beyond. Go Canada Go - Calgary!

i have no problem with those that voice there support for the Olyimpic games coming to Calgary, actually financially support them with there own money, would be greatly appreciated by the taxpayers i'm sure. we would then actually see who really wants that show to continue. but alas i'm sure that's not going to happen!

personally I would have no problem contributing the Olympics unfortunately my bank account is a bit shy of the 8 billion :)
