I am trying to convince the wife to go to Cuba this winter, before them American's screw it all up with their commercialism. I heard its already getting started, just want to see it as what Cuba really is.

We we went a few years ago. Booked a 4.5 resort. it was bad. Met some people who suggested we change resorts as it was day 6 for them. We went with them to friends they knew at another resort to check it out. It was way better. So after talking with sunwwing and another 500.00 US in money we changed resorts. Only 1 night in chitty place.

Beaches and drinks amazing. Food chitty. I would go again but Val says No.

Cuba sucked. Some people like it. When we were there I asked everyone. There was always a long pause. They all said they wouldn't go back. Only one guy there liked it.

Cuba was neat to visit but the food sucked! A lot of the places to visit are going to be what you make it. I ended up in hospital in the DR from food poisoning but I would go back. Love Jamaica. Diving, turks is the spot. And I bought a place south of PV Mexico. Pick your poison lol. Centeral america no clue but friends swear by it. Good luck.

The funny thing about Cuba was I had the best lobster and the worst
Lobster in my life there. The best was the Al Capone restaurant and the worst was at the resort.

So sounds like Cuba isn't that great.
That's interesting the negative reviews. My other option was Jamaica????

Been to the Mayan 3 times.

All are great places to visit. All have chitty resorts.Do some research, read reviews, maybe even start a thread on a off road forum.

Went to Negril with another couple that had been to Montego Bay, they said they liked Negril alot more, nicer beaches(7 miles of white powder sand) and maybe because we stayed at an adult only resort. We hired a chauffer for a day and asked him to show us the real Jamaica, he also brought us to the Pelican Bar which is just a small hut a couple kilometers out in the ocean(hired a guy with a small fishing boat to take us there)cool place. I have been to Cuba, just like another Mexico to me so no need to go back. Turks and Caicos I would definatly go back, awesome diving. Belize Ambergise Cay Island would go back, best diving I have done so far. Punt Cana, another Mexico. Maui was really nice, Honolulu was nice but getting way to commercialized. Wife wants to go to Bora Bora, ouch,$$$$

I never been anywhere! But my parents travel lots. They like Cuba but need to do research to find a good place to stay. They hated Jamaica they won't be going back there, not sure what area they went. They say Mexico is best bang for the buck. They are taking us there this February so I will give you first hand experience on how the beer tastes.

I liked Negril in Jamaica a lot better then when we drove to Montego Bay, and outside Ocho Rios. Both of those are way to tourist-y. Everything is so commercialized.

7 Mile beach is definitely a must see.

Ricks Cafe was pretty good, had really great food.

Dunns River Falls is commercialized but was a pretty cool experience, didn't like that they had a bunch of booths like a trade show you had to walk out of with people harassing you to buy things.

Mystic Mountain gondola ride up was neat, could see the ocean and ocho rios on the way up. Jamaican bob sled ride down, and zip lining through the jungle from tree to tree way pretty cool too.

Dolphin Cove was alright, but made me feel bad for the dolphins, living in murky small little bay, but none the less was pretty cool to do a superman with two dolphins pushing each right out of the water.

Definitely on my next trip I would book the excursions while I'm there.... 20% less $$$ when your there.

I would want to go horseback riding on the beach and you walk with the horses through the ocean to an island and have a picnic on the island.

There's another waterfall climb that's not commercialized that I would want to see.

My boss said going to the Appleton Estates is the longest drive through logging roads into the centre of Jamaica, but was cool when you got there.

But to me my favourite thing was the catamaran and snorkelling. I love the ocean and swimming, I snorkel all the time at the lake, being out on the ocean was awesome.

If I would go on another vacation, Jamaica is where I would go, and Negril is by far my favourite place I've seen in Jamaica.

I got most of my vacation on video with my GoPro's if anyone wants to see.

i agree. We went to Ricks Cafe, Dunn river falls and 7 Mile Beach. We also rented our own guy for the day. Easy to do. He brought a cooler with ice and we stopped and filled it up with Red Label beer.

Spend some time researching the resorts, you get what you pay for. We've been to Cuba twice and didn't mind it. Biggest issue was everywhere you turned, someone had their hand out looking for money...even when you walk out of a washroom.

Stayed at the same place. Loved it!!! As of right now, Jamaica is BY FAR our favorite. No language barriers, and everyone there LOVES Canadians. We'll be going back for sure. Sounds like Negril will be our next stay. Wife wanted to try Ocho Rios, but Negril sounds like the place.
