Polishing a sled deck

So I haven't polished any part of it since I bought it used 7ish years ago. I gave it a half hour, and this is all I got done.

I have lots of free time, but I don't thinks it's a project I care to tackle!

I was kinda in the same boat. So I went the easy way and sprayed it with box liner. Looks better black.

Power ball and maybe a sand with 2000 wet. Don't be a lazy FF

I use mothers on all my stuff. Crappy tire has all that chit

I wet shaded with 2000, then powerball with mothers aluminum. then used my hands. Im waaaaay too lazy

Mild acid solution. Buddy works at car lot. Helps out a lot. Then wax it after to protect.

Truck spa does them pretty cheap. $350-400.

Just say phuck it..................and get it LineX'd or powder coated. It will last forever and always look good.

I was a slave to my aluminum flatdeck but it didn't take long to see the light.

Mine is powdercoated for a reason. If I had a raw deck I'd wrap those sides with black vinyl.

Brandon, how long would that vinyl last? If one is going to do something, do it right. Powder coat or LineX/Armaguard is not maintenance and lasts for years.

Yes it is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Vinyl seems to last fine on wrapped cars, trucks, buses, etc. You are talking about a huge price disparity too. Probably $50 and an hour to wrap the sides vs powder coat at ~$300 and 8+ hours to disassemble, reassemble and rewire or ~$600 to have it sprayed.

That's a really good idea. Never even thought of vinyl on the deck.Might just have to look into this a little more.

I'm not happy with the vinyl "wrap" on my truck. The car wash is the biggest problem. Starts to lift and the then the wind from driving is peeling it.

We have pretty big wraps on our work trucks with sharp lines like the peaks on your mountains, we were having issues with them lifting but the company that did the wraps came and put a small layer of glue right on the edge. We haven't had a issue since. I'm not sure of the glue type or anything but it doesn't affect the paint or anything just gives it another layer to keep it from lifting. Hope that helps.
