i also don't have a problem paying for a service. If the service is being provided.
Clubs asking for trail fee's on a trail that has not been groomed in three days and 500 plus sleds in and out...... come on now.

I would be willing to pay more even more for this service, but the service has to be on par with the fee......

Twenty bucks IMO is still pretty dam cheap. Our local ski hill wants $75 for a pass that's good from 8:30 to 3:30. I buy a Club Membership every year and get $5 off a trail pass when I ride elsewhere. Sure there are days when the trails aren't as smooth as I'd like but 99% of the time my hat goes off to the club "Volunteers" who do such an excellent job.

I dont know if i should start a new thread on this but. Give you head a shake, something is stuck.

How about this change the "TRAIL PASS" to something like " A.M.U.F." Area Managment User Fee. Will that make you any happier? It isnt all about the trail in the mountains. It is about the guys that will come up and save your rearend after you are hurt. The guys that empty the garbage, taking up fuel for the cabin. Keeping the cabin clean. NOT just the trail in.

Seems like you hear is the trail was bumpy, waa waa. Suck it up princess. That person at the trail head has to be there before any riders show up, because i doubt you are going to stop at the booth at the end of the day to pay it. All you will hear is , i was the first guy up today , the trail was hard as rock but smooth as silk, thankfully i have scratchers.

How about you get 10$ off your day pass if you haul a garbage bag down from the cabin. Would you do it?

My 2cents and my rant...bash me all you want. I have very thick skin,

Yes your very right! There's always going to be bitching, and the trail fees aren't all about just the grooming it's also about all the things that go into keeping the areas maintained and safe. With limited to no funding you got to do what you got to do and thats increase rates. I've been at Hotrods and a he's had people call "The Renshaw trails rough, terrible etc. etc. etc.!!!" well ok.... now he's worried, because it was just groomed. So then the next day we ride it up and well what trail were those folks riding because it was great, maybe 2 or 3 bad spots over the course of the ride. But then there's the flipside and yes when the trail in is rough the people have a right to bitch because they are expecting a decent ride up for their fee.

I dont mind payin as long as the service is there. If they dont want to groom I dont want to pay.

I agree.

When they charge and the trail is in bad shape I'm a little pissed.

It's also nice for those areas who groom twice a day so the trip back is relaxing and fun verses painfull and slow.

I have no problem paying, have ridden lots of trails that are "ungroomed" and they are painful. Even a poorly groomed trail is better.
I also understand that a groomed trail has a "life expectancy" based on temp and amount of sleds ridding it.
Yes I will pay and no I won't be complaining.

Quit your moanin and bitching. Look at the change in the parking lot in the last 10 years, not many utility trailers behind 15 year old pickup anymore. More like a 1 year old deisel crewcab pulling a 28 ft enclosed, and it isn't full of ET 340s. So if a 10 dollar increase is going to bankrupt you, you better rethink your situation. People are always going to bitch about paying for stuff. It's human nature, just bitch about things worth bitching about, like riding area closures. Doesn't some of the money go to support the clubs, and thier dealings with goverment to keep our areas open? If this is all we have to complain about then I guess we have it pretty good all in all.

well i will pay but they better be grooming more than once a week for that kind of money... they should be grooming at least 3 to 4 times a week... and if they say there is only one operator for the groomer well they better train more club members to operate groomer

In the overall cost of a sled trip from Edmonton to McBride, an increase of $5 per day for a trail pass is not going to make a difference. One less drink in the pub and your even.

It's not a grooming fee, it's a trail pass. I think the area groups do an excellent job at maintaining the trails and facilities for us to use. The groomer is part of the cost of maintaining an area, but not all of it.

They should change the wording to "User Fee". I like AMUF, great idea. And if it's $30 a day for the service I'm getting now, so be it. It won't change when and where I ride, and I will still be friendly to the person collecting every morning.

A rough trail is when you can't see the guy in front of you until you both crest the whoops at the same time. Try that on an 1980 JD with 1" of rear suspension travel!!!

I heard that revvy was going to be 30.00/day for trail passes this year. Some of the clubs will be donating part of there trail pass money to the CAC but not all clubs in BC are from what i've heard.

i agree it may not be grooming fee but a trail pass... next time anybody leaves the door on the cabin open you can be an advocate for cheaper passes..by kicking them in the butt or offering to haul garbage down or fuel up there is lots of ways to make it cheaper...but complaining is a great way to try.

Clubs and grooming societies that collect $50,000 in revenue will pay 12% HST now. So on a $20 daily trail pass fee that is $2.40. On our club memberships it will be $15.60.
Revelstoke passes will remain at $20 same as they were at the end of last season. MoTCA will allow an increase up to $25 on special occasions. There was hope that all areas would charge the same amount so that clubs managing the same areas or close to other groomed areas wouldn`t have competition.
Club memberships are not the same $ amount across the province now. Gov. asked that 5 times a daily pass fee be designated from a membership for trail maintenance, grooming and operating costs to enable groups to become more self sustainable. Revelstoke club memberships have increase to cover these costs.

The $5 discount on a daily pass that some clubs offer is for fellow members of BCSF snowmobile clubs.

If the gov. would make licencing and registering snowmobiles manditory in the province of the B.C. we wouldn`t be faced now with requests for donations and increases in daily fees and club memberships.

There is so much more than a groomed trail.

It is and has been law that you had to register your sled if you live in bc for years now, just hasn't been enforced.
