So my other post about being broke into at home last night has raised the question... who is the best alarm company around the Stony plain area. Apparently need to set things up like fort knox these days.

So you think... they went into my neighbours house, 2 dogs inside and still made away with arm loads full of stuff, they tried my front door, my dog did not make a peep either and is normally super aware of visitors.

kind of a waste of money, thieves now a days don't care. We had our home broke into. It had an alarm with stickers on just about every window and door. It wasn't activated the morning we left, but even if it would have been I don't think it would make much difference Cops said they don't care anymore, just run in and grab some of your valuables and they are long gone before anyone can get respond. If you get one make sure it has a loud outdoor speaker to get the neighbors attention, that is about the only part that will help scare them off.

I understand that and my thoughts are similar, however I have to try something.....

We have a vivint at home and a reliance protectron at our business.

I like vivint better. They answer the phones right that moment not waiting for minutes listening to ****ty music if you have issues or anything.

They can do cameras that you can check with your smart phone. You can lock your doors with your phone. Turn on and off the alarm.

It listens from the box so when there is a break in and alarm goes off they can specify to the police they are rushing stealing stuff.

I also have a sump pump over flow alarm and smoke alarm.

Bit pricey and a bit over kill but i like being able to check door locks.

It also texts me if doors are left open and includes garage door. I also have it set to chime if garage doors open cause i cant hear the over head door open from the house.

A week after our break in I decided we would get a dog. We got a boxer and spent a lot of time with it training it to go crazy when someone comes in the yard. My house probably has the same valuables as the neighbors and they don't have a dog. I think 99% will choose the neighbors house to beak into over ours.

A big deterrent as well is cameras,Costco has some nice kits. In the twenty years I have lived in my neighbourhood there have been three break ins on my street that I know of, all three no security systems, my house is between two of them. They all have them now and so far so good.i have a dog and a security system, likely going to add cameras as well as long as I can keep them discreet. If they fail I also have guns and a few awards for shooting lol!
