rad gets cleaned after every trip. even pulled off side guards to get rad clean.
it even over heats in the winter. My buddy has two of the same quads with same problem. either too small a rad or too sensitive of a sensor I think.:(

Is it just the light that comes on or is it actually overheating? Is the coolant boiling out of it? My buddy had the same problem and it turned out to be a weak sensor but who wants to rely on that theory when your in the bush. Good luck.

i asked about known problems at a dealership for you. my wifes family owns it so there was no bs'ing about problems and they said they havent had any issues with the rad or cooling system in general but you should be watching the axles/cv's. they may be recalling them for that. anyway, check to see if the rad is clean, you said you did that so done. now is the rad actually clean. does water flow through all areas with the low pressure hose and does it run clear, not cloudy. i'm sure you know this too but never use the pressure washer on the rad or even strong hose pressure, you will cause damage. if it does run clear with no obstructions then use a rad cleaner or aluminum cleaner to get the rest of the mud and dust off. the rad should be shiney to effectively cool the bike. even a little cloudy and it will affect performance. once this is done, does your fan come on and off. simple check but i have seen this be the problem with other machines. after that you can flush the rad and system to ensure thier is no air in there. as well there should be a couple of bleeds somewhere to bleed off the air that is trapped but it is easier to just flush the system until no air bubbles are present then treat until it is at a satisfactory freeze protection. 60/40 should be good. 50/50 is a little much. you could also go to a 70/30 or 80/20 or even 100% water with the proper additives to prevent corrosion etc... but change it out before winter. as well there is a product out there that is a direct replacement and it is supposed to lower operating temps significantly. it is called engine ice. heres a link. Engine Ice - Welcome . most bigger dealerships carry it and i know that riverside honda has a bunch on the shelf. i was there on thursday. anyway beyond that you may have another issue causing the overheating problems and should take it into the dealership or any service centre and have it looked at. wow that was kind of long winded but i hope it helped you out.

light comes on then fan cuts in a couple minutes later. After 20min of running.
ill try the different coolant and maybe monitor actual temp with a raytec temp gun. kind of a pain when you are wanting to go on a long trip.

check for hot spots on the rad and areas where coolant is supposed to be. i have the same gun you have and it will definately tell you if there is air in the system.
