Bought an 07 Summit 800 and was told that removing the clutch cover inside the hood on the left side would keep it cooler and make your belt last longer. Told this by the dealer. It will work where there is no pwder but when in powder the snow gets into the clutch and you end up spinning your belt. A fast fix on the hill was to duct tape the opening on the hood beside the clutch.

Does snow still get in there with the snow filter kits on all the vents in the hood? My '06 800 doesn't have that cover, I put the filter kits on and had no trouble at all in 5' of powder last year at Sicamous.
