I was wondering i have a 2010 assault and recently acquired a a an slp can 2009 wondering if i modified the bracket woill it work on my 2010 assault.I dont see why not im sure a can is a can long as you can make it fit.?

I ordered a slp can for my 10 Dragon, Polaris(not the dealer) sent me a can for an 09. I would have had to do a LOT of modifing to make it fit. It was easier, just to send it back and get the right one. So in your case, I would suggest seeing if you can find a used one or just ordering another.
