    My underpowered Polaris 800

On paper it seems the Polaris 800 engine has been the lowest Hp engine for some time now. When comparing to Cat and Doo 800 SDI engines (same class) that is. Today I went riding with some friends and of the 800 cc engines there were 2 Renegades, 1 MXZ, 1 Dragon switchback, and 1 Crossfire and...

Why does this forum not charge for access

Other forums charge to access their forums. I think this is just a money grab. I know it costs money to operate but that is why advertising exists. How does this forum avoid this (or is it that this forum is not based on greed)? Someone from the main office explain this to me please.

This years use of inovation/technology found on the stock sleds (discussion)

Thought it might be nice to talk techy stuff introduced on the new factory sleds from all brands. Not the additon of storage, tweaking, etc. My thoughts: Start with Doo Very interesting rear suspension in the T motion and flex track. Pros I see. Sounds like it allows a sled to flex for...

Positve comments only from non Doo owners

Time for a positive twist and get people thinking about nice things to say instead of negative about the other guys prefered ride. Fact is and we all know that all sled brands have reached a high level of performance in all areas. I love my Poo for my own reasons. In my home we have a rule. If...

Weights and power to weight ratios

So...Summit X weight is 464 lbs and the Pro RMK is 417 lbs. A difference of...........................47 lbs less for the Pro. Power to weight ratio is 2.84 lb/hp for the Summit X and 2.69 lb/hp for the Pro Rmk based on manufacturers stated weights. Although 3rd party dyno tests show all...

    Did you know?

On the SBA where you store the spare belt there are plastic tabs protruding downward from the top panel to hold your belt away from the side panel so as not to push on the side panel. Some guys made comment on their belts pushing against the side panel. I assume this is standard on all sleds...

Hope we all have a safe riding season

I want to encourage every rider out there to make sure you have a safe fun riding season. Last year I broke my arm at my left wrist on my first ride and lost the season. Now I weigh more with a plate screwed to my bones and a 5" scar where the kind Doc did the internal repairs. Lesson...

Why I think the Switchback Assault is the perfect sled for me.

To start I have snowchecked a 2012 Switchback Assault (2" track and low wind shield) and this is why. 1..I ride mostly flatland off trail and partime mountains. 2..I want the most lightweight sled available for ease of handling (cat is not even close in the weight dept). 3..2 stroke for the...

    Are you happy you changed?

Just wondering how happy all the folks that changed from brand X to any of the new Polaris sleds are. What sled were you on before and why do you like / dislike the new Polaris sled you own?:)

    Saskatoon sneek peek

I posted this in the Cat section but it also applies to the Poo section so... Well...here's my report from the Saskatoon Sneek Peek. I went to the show with a good friend who is a die hard Cat fan (4 sleds including M8's). He loves his cats and is a serious mountain rider. We were both wanting...

    Finally great looking Cats

I must say I am impressed with what I see from Cat this year. In my opinion they finally have a sweet looking chassis. Not sure what to think of the predominantly 4 stroke line. Static light weight is important to me. Going to the sneek peek to check them out Thursday to see if what I see in...

    2011 800 engine poor HP

I hope what I read about the hp of this engine is not realistic. Dynoed at 144 hp. Not sure if this engine was still in break in mode or not. I would like to buy a new 800 this year but if the HP is not at least 150 then forget it. Doo and Cat have much stonger engines if this is the case. My...

    Boggies

I am trying to understand why manufacturers put boggies on rear suspensions. I am considering taking all 6 of mine off my sled and saving about 9 lbs including the mounts. New deep snow sleds do not use them these days to save weight and when I consider how much the boggies actually support the...

    2002 800 RMK piping question

I am looking for feedback on installing a single SLP pipe on this sled and was wondering if anyone has installed this pipe on a 2002 to 2005 800 RMK. Slp claims 11 hp with stock silencer ( I will be using an MBRP race can). Will I notice the difference and be glad I spent the $480 plus clutching...
