Soo it looks like my trans isn't happy anymore in my '14 cummins. I'm looking to put a built trans in now and my local shop deals with Suncoast. They're giving me a pretty good price on a full SC trans and I'm wondering if anyone is running one of their 68's. I'm just deleted and only tow up to 10k. Don't abuse the truck, just want something that's going to last

Well, Suncoast is in Florida. They make great transmissions, and have a pretty solid race team. But if you need warranty, they are in Florida. Something to consider. Have you looked into North American Powertrain Centre? Local company with some solid products. And you don't have to pay to ship it back to Florida if there are any warranty concerns.

I haven't looked into anything else really. Just dealing with a local shop and that's who they use. They have their stuff come out of Edmonton. I'll have to give them a shout and grill them on the warranty.

NAPC uses Suncoast parts, at the very least Suncoast clutch kits. Suncoast is very good.

On the old H&S forums Suncoast was the number one recommended. Seemed a lot of people were very happy with their Suncoast transmissions.

Had numerous issues with NAPC / NADP. i wouldn't use them if i were you. Quality of work and then problems getting warranty. I used MPL for my last truck and so have several of my buddies, not sure if they do dodges though.

Chatted with the shop doing the work. Warranty work is done in Edmonton so I can work with that. This shop his good and I'm sticking with their recommendations. I see alot of good stuff about suncoast.

Hey Dave did you talk to Troy out at No Limits, great guys to work with and they do a ton of work on trannys, especially Dodge. Just a suggestion.

Yup that's who I'm dealing with. Used them before and know lots of guys who have too. Awesome bunch of fellers there. Wouldn't go anywhere else

the 68rfe transmission most guys can re-build them but they have a weak point in them at the overdrive, new updated parts coming in very near future.the complaint alot of guys have with re-built tranmission when running programe is some programs and shift kits in transmission will cause a hunting issue, the transmission will shift back and fourth between 2 gears when driving through a school zone. suncoast uses shift kits so may have this problem depending on programme and shift kit.can always manually shift down if you have this issue.highly recomend you make sure cooler is flushed before re-built unit is installed for restriction in cooler flow will cause problems in near future

You say your deleted and dont abuse the truck, what did it start doing? Reason i ask is im concerned about the longevity of mine in my 13 cummins. I had a couple slips a few weeks back which im thinking was on slick roads but the traction light didnt flash so that freaked me out immediately. Ive spun the tires lately on ice and the traction light flashes immediately so im thinking (hoping not) that i had some tranny slip.
What did this shop quote you for a built tranny?

Little back story. I ran the truck for a bit with a Stryker module on it which doesn't have any trans tuning. I ended up shuddering the torque converter and slipping the trans a bit doing some spirited driving. Since then it was never quite right. I would get some hard shudders and rough shifts now and then. Dealer found a few burnt clutches in the trans and replaced them but didn't do a full rebuild. Shortly after is when I deleted. Since then it was running well but I was babying the truck as I knew the day would come. Last trip with sleds on the deck anytime the TC was locked and the truck had to work hard at all it would buck really bad. I couldn't even maintain speed on the hills. Rather than just swap the tc I'm going with a full built trans so I (hopefully) won't have to worry about it anymore. I was quoted 6k for a trans which to me seems low and think it'll come in a bit higher.

I use Rob at Iconic driveline he stands behind his product and builds some mean products. Suncoast is amazing but warranty issues you will be down a truck for atleast a week or more compared to a couple days. we also use Commercial Powertrain Carl builds some awesome quality trans and is local to Calgary area. Rob at Iconic offers 3 year warranties and I think commercial is 1 year we supply and install all trans

I wanted to go to Commercial but it's quite a bit more expensive and over built for what I need. 3 year warranty is what I'm being told on the one they're doing for me. It'll be alot easier dealing with the shop 10 minutes from my house vs one 5 hours away. Another big reason I'm using these guys. With my work schedule it's a heck of alot easier to drop the truck off and let them deal with the shipping to Edmonton and back versus me trying to get the whole truck down and back

Well an update. Got the trans installed and have a few miles on it now. The trans is absolutely amazing. Seems to get the power to the ground a lot better, shifts are quick and firm. Not even a comparison to the stock trans. And naturally the service from No Limit was top notch again!

Local shop here got it from a place in Edmonton. Not sure where it was. It was 6k installed with a triple disc converter which was pretty decent.

I had PT here in town rebuild my 48re in my Dodge, not that impressed, cost me about the same price as your drop in and mine won't hold 500hp.
