I did say in (some cases) this will work. Anyways I'm not concerned over the fact that it will need recharging. It's about replacing diesels in heavy equipment. This is an evolution in the works right now. There is no time limit for EV's to stop developing. It will continue and grow. Just like that first ****ty diesel locomotive, it also got better over time.

I agree that the use of DC tractive systems will be the future for many types of equipment that currently use fossil fueled recips. The systems that exist now in the EV world are serving to demonstrate the advantages of electric propulsion and fine tune their operation and control systems.
They will however, remain an interesting sidebar of technology until some means of providing an easy to use, portable, cost effective and environmentally sound Source of electricity is developed.
