Figured I’d post a couple pics of my process if anyone is considering doing the same.

Quite a bit of work. I start by stripping it down and washing it . Then let it dry for a day or 2 . Pull all the plugs in the rockers and spray the hell out of it with rust check and fluid film mixed together.

I ordered a pail of fluid film and a sprayer from slamazon. Should be here by November, I’m stoked on keeping that metal cancer at bay haha

I mixed it with red rust check because I don’t think the fluid film will get down into the seams well by itself. Seams pretty thick the way it is .

Ok that’s a good idea! Do you use the long hoses to spray yours?

I’d like to get the pb blaster undercoat stuff, but according to pb it’s illegal in Canada haha

I have never ever considered to do this kind of maintenance. I usually keep my truck 10-13 years

I have to agree. I usually keep mine 5-7 years, havnt had a rust problem since the 80's. Seems like a royal waste of time to me, then again I wont touch a Dodge product. Is that the difference?

If you buy new and take care of it, you shouldn't have any concerns by that age, but I would say beyond that it wouldn't hurt to do some preventative rust painting in the wheel wells. Some of it is also down to sheer luck, some trucks are mint but have a rusted out wheel well, some are beat and clearly not taken care of with perfect wheel wells.

I keep it till the wheels fall off . I like to have a well maintained vehicle, but yes if you bought it new and looked after it you probably wouldn’t need to do much of this . You wouldn’t be surprised the amount of dirt that gets trapped in the seams especially between the quarter panel and box side. Behind the fenders and front of the door to is crazy, dirt get wet and stays wet and you get rust eventually. Some might consider it a was of time but to each there own and I’ll keep doing what I am doing and have a rust free truck for as long as I own it .

I absolutely admire the dedication and hard work. Everybody has their thing. I know for myself that kind of effort goes into other things, not rust prevention on my pickup. But as far as effort and dedication go, top notch.

if being a knob is telling somebody you admire their dedication and hard work, then I guess yup, Im a knob!
No being condescending and suggesting you have more important stuff to do is being a Knob. But i think you already know that....

You must also think no one else usderstands what a backhanded compliment is....

Some see the negative, some see the positive.
