Does anyone have or have had an early 2000's wr250? Looking at buying one and wondering how they are? I don't need a 450. Just for playing around in the woods. I know the 03 model is the first for electric start. Not sure the first year for the 4 stroke version.

It's a good bike, first full size bike I had. Very simple mods can be done to bring it to life if it gets boring. Check to see if it has a auto decompression can, if not learn how to use the lever properly. I highly recommend to read everything on www.thumperfaq.com

2001 was the first year of the 4stk 250. Good bikes, I rode one for a year. Harder to start than my 2000 wr 400. Just flooded very easy.

I have an 08 WR250 that I bought for my daughter and she loves it. I ride it when my bike is down for maintenance and I really like riding it. My advice would be to get the newest one you can afford.

Also the tw200 is a fun little bike for street or trail. Depends on your riding plans

I bought a klx 300 a few weeks back. Not a bad price for the wr as long as it is in mint shape.
