I'd take the extra hour and go Virginia Hills or Swan Hills there's way more snow there than here. Right now all we have is stump hiding snow.

we rode yesterday all over Judy Creek. We had nine machines, 2 doo's, 1 polaris and 6 yammies. Amazingly no one bent anything. The snow is still a little skinny with lots of stumps and the odd rock, no base at all. We rode northwest from the plant for approx 25-30 km and the snow didn't get any deeper than 12-18 inches. The Freeman river is flowing pretty good under the snow, about 1 foot of water in places. We ripped down the river for about 1 km in the water it was pretty fun but not recommended for beginers. All in all we had a good day.

The Eagle River Trail system, Silver Summit, Virgina Hills and Golden Triangle to Letter "O" are open. The trails are rough and ungroomed with only 2cm of new snow in the last 14 days with total accumulation of 24 cm, with limited base.

Caution is advised at all creek crossings and throughout the area as industrial activities continue. Wind blow down has occured in some areas.
It is always a good idea to carry at least a folding pruning saw when sledding in wooded areas.

Please report any downed trees(that you can't move) either to me, here, or to:

Local trail system is lacking snow but is rideable. Be cautious for dead fall from a recent wind storm. The Whitecourt Trailblazers are aware of some down trees and are organizing groups to clear the trails again very soon. If you are planning to ride the trails it's a good idea to carry a saw of some sort that would be able to cut through a 5" tree. Please also report any unmovable dead fall to myself or Summiteer.:)
