Weird idle

Hey everyone,
I have another question about my 2001 Honda CR250R. Its idle seems very unnormal. It idles very high and pulses almost like it wants to go higher. Then sometimes it will idle down so low it almost dies? Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this.

check your throttle cable is not sticking,Your carb could be dirty or the air filter.

i have the same bike,i would start with removing the carb and clean really well
then check the intake boot for any cracks and clean the filter that should clear it up

just as slomo has said check carb boot as it is probably the cause of this issue

it is a lean condition at idle, too small of a pilot jet if there are no air leaks. if it is the pilot jet, it won't hurt anything, and the benefit is zero stumble when you pin the throttle from idle, but can lead to difficult starting.

edit: missed the almost stalling part, clean the carb first as john s suggested.

id start by stripping down the carb clean it all out might have some dirt or grit inside take the jets out and spray carb cleaner through them see if that helps also clean the airfilter could even change the plug see if it helps
