Hey guys,

Not too detailed of a report. I lost a jug on saturday, so my first hand experience is limited.

Last reports from the alpine were that we needed some fresh snow, but if you knew where to look, there was still some great fresh to be found !

We have been getting hammered with wind and blowing snow for the last 24hrs. Not much accumulating in town, but its hard to tell what happening south.

Forcast is for snow !

If anyone has a more detailed update, please throw it here, otherwise I will not be heading up for a day or so and that will be to fix the stove pipe up at Allan, so no reports from me for a bit.

Great snow in the Allan Creek area today. Visibility has been poor for the last few days. Its was trying to clear today and got better near the end. This was the only pic I stopped to snap of a few local boys out for a ride, had to give em a laugh.

Very deep in spots, windslabbed in others 8" to a couple feet depending where you went. Excellent snow, we just need some sun

Well, hit all three areas in the last few days, socked in the majority of the time, but overall good snow off the beaten path.

Chappell Fri, 1-2' of snow lots left too be had when we took off, but the weekend fellas might have tracked it up.

Clemina Sat, again poor vis most of the day, excellent snow back in Danger Basin 1-2' again in spots. Could not make the trip into Morning Glory from the top, due to terrible cloud and a very large overhanging cornice. Went up from the bottom and not a track in there. We left it for the folks riding sunday and went for the trees.

Allan Sun, terrible visibility, the farthest anyone seemed to venture was to the top of milton. Good snow in the burn and off the main trail. Mostly untouched near the back, but again no visibility. All common areas are generally hardpack or covered with blown snow. It was blowing hard !

Avy conditions are bad so keep yourself informed. We could not even get small stuff to break, but those bad layers are so deep and if you hit a shallower section near a rock or tree, you could trigger something big. Use caution out there especially on the windloaded slopes. The wind has been hammering for weeks transporting snow all over the place.

Pics are bad, due to weather sorry.

Headin up Westridge tomorrow and if the weathers good, Ill post some pics.

Have fun out there !

Was at Clemina yesterday. Visability was very poor but snow conditions were great. Wind Tunnels had over a foot to play in ande all untouched.

Jan 23 - 2 hr Avy Seminar at Red Deer Power Sports

Poaching on your thread...sorry guys! Just hoping to let riders know about an upcoming event.

This 2 hr avalanche seminar at Red Deer Power Sports is $25/family...bring the clan. Each family will receive an AVALUATOR (additional AVALUATORS may be purchased for $10) and we will learn how to use this new decision making tool.

For more information about the Seminars and the AVALUATOR click on the following links.

Here is a cool picture of storm snow instability from one of our December avalanche field sessions. The blocks are very low density (soft) slabs of recent storm snow that were not bonding to the layers surrounding them.

A little shy on the fresh snow lately, but the blue bird sky makes up for it.

Beautiful weather the last few days, Im envious of those of you who made it out.

Snows in the forcast for the weekend !

Is there anybody going to be out there Feb 6-10?? Myself and 2 others will be heading there. Never been to Vale before and if possible would like to hook up and ride with someone that knows where to go.

sorry about the lame reports guys, serious sled trouble this year:rant:

Ive found a new ride, if someone coming from Edmonton has room, ill split gas or buy beer if you can pick up a sled at Echo Cycle before heading out.

Hard pack with 10cm on top to over 1' in places. Overall great time

New Cat ran amazing, those folks at Echo, set er up well. Sure a different ride.
