Rode Wolverine today, only a dozen of us out there. (Three groups)
Drove in as far as 37km, nice! (The "Y" just before the tracks)
Ok for a road ride, but watch-out for the "ditch hazards"
Not much snow, in the best spots, 6" of fluff on top of an 8" crust.
The "side-hill" is not an issue yet.
The new warm up shack is nice but ne'er lit a fire today. (-5c)
Rode out to the Carnage/Full Monty Y, turned around there.
Snow much better on the cabin side and 42k spot then on the Carnage side. (see pictures for snow depth at probe
New tree has fallen on the Rogers pass trail, couldn't get around with the low snow pack. (bring a chainsaw and cut the b*tch out!)
Creek after the cabin is pretty wide open. (see pictures).
Mega stumpy, mega loggy, MEGA crust.
Stay on the trail or be ready to "have a bad time" when spindles get bent and a-arms are pretzled.
Rode Wolverine today. We were able to drive in as far as 37km again!
If you are riding the Wolverine, drive in to 37!!! There's a huge field at 36.8 and if everyone keeps driving in we'll be able to cut out 15km of road riding each way. No more parking at 22km!!! It's an easy drive right now in 4x4 even with 6" of fresh as there's a good hard base on the road.
It snowed a bit out here today, 5-6", nothing to get excited about, still hitting rocks on the road til around 41k. Dipping off the road is not recommended unless you like riding with a set of snapped off bars or a bent a-arm (Both of which happened today).
Didn't ride past the turn off to Rogers, turned up instead. Trail up is pretty sh*tty with lots of logs to cross and willows to ride through. Decent snow on the Rogers summit and down the backside to Pyramid meadows.
Didn't see too many people out today. One group loading out at 26k, looked to be out-of-towners.
Overall a 2.5 out of 5 day.
Parking at 36.7 The "Sidehill" isn't an issue yet Backside of Rogers Pass Probe depth on backside of Rogers First Pyramid Meadow Trail to second meadow in Pyramid Our Group on the road at 47k "Bumper Smasher" AKA "Smashin' Sylvain" stuck up a tree shooting Rogers
went into core lodge today tonne s of snow in the trees little cold so stayed close to the fire in the cabin . chest deep in some spots overall good conditions broke trail all the way
Any body ride around tumbler lately ? How is the snow? How deep is the base / powder ? A group of 5 of us are headed there Thursday sounds like avy conditions are gonna be bad..... Anywhere you would recommend with lots of flats and medows. (Kinda wanna stay away from the steep stuff if the conditions are bad). We usually ride core lodge while there but open to wherever.
Was out to the core lodge on Saturday. They still need way more snow. The snow was to soft with no base still. Last year early December they had more snow. Better off riding the Chetwynd areas atleast they have a bit of a base. Over all lacking snow in the mountains. Hope to start getting it soon.
Just want to thank the piece of sh*&t who decided they needed our super clamps more then us. Thank you for breaking into our truck, rummaging through our bags. You made our day. Since when do we steal from other sledders? P. S snow at core lodge absolutely sucks.
Road upper burnt Saturday and really crusted over down low new snow up top and prolly more by now heading somewhere in the morning maybe burnt again but play safe lots of bad layers and slides are enevatible we had a few stuff and a couple pretty big slides happened in beaver this weekend luckily no one hurt
How are the conditions in tumbler so far? My husband wants to take a sledding trip at the end of the month and had rooms booked for Valemount but the weather everywhere is crazy!
