I know this is not what most people do with their sleds..... but I am curious. What is the fastest you have ever got your sled going? I prefer "stock" sleds nto racing sleds so I can compare. Mostly I just want to know what one SHOULD be capable of.

Prior to taking ours out we usually hit Chestermere Lake first... it's a good place to go for the first run of the year to ensure everything is working as well as possible. It's close to the city too, so should anything go wrong, it's not that big of an emergency.

I got my stock Summit 800 to 145 on the lake.... I think with a little more balls (me) and a bit more distance I might have been able to get 150 out of it. Does that sound "normal" or about right?

Seems a little excessive, and not sure how accurate the speedo's are, but 105mph on the old 95 xlt according to the speedo. and was about 15 years ago.

145 is km/h... I should have specified.

A lake is about the only place you can let one unwind and see how fast it can actually go.......

2014 XMX 163 stock with theThing can going down hill on a straight stretch of groomed trail.........110 km and I had lots of straight remaining but that's all I got.

I have seen 84 km on the T3 174, once again going down hill on a groomed trail with theThing can.

Right up until you hit an ice heave.

I was always told that if you wanna rip, go down at a normal speed to check for hazards, and then race back IN YOUR OWN TRACK.

I have a old mod sled, 2000RMK 800. Don't know how accurate the speedo is but it hit over 200km/h going down the blindman river with my ex wife on the back...lol

Agreed... seems obvious to me you don't shoot for 145 on your first tear down the lake...... I worked up to it after running around on the lake for a couple hours having a blast. Makes perfect sense to go "casual" on the way there... and then rip it up on the way back when you know there's no obstructions.

1. Brave.... getting mine to 145 was plenty fast enough.... hard to believe your 800 is 50km/h faster... but good to know.

Curious why you mention "The Thing Can" a couple times in this post.... does that affect speed or were you just in a hurry to go eat lol

Sounds good! :) To me it seemed like I was going so fast I had a hard time looking at the speedometer lol It was very quick glances for sure!

Are we racing for beer?

That's probably pretty close, I had my first mod 670 doing 113 mph on a straight one day........then the belt let go!

Had an old formula 3 "purple screamer" get up to 110mph on the iron horse one time. Scary as fawk since it was nowhere near being smooth lol when I stopped I had to wait a good 15 minutes for my younger brother to catch up on the 340 puma lol

The 13 xm 154 was barely keeping up with traffic last weekend while ditch banging so probably 60, 65 mph. Didn't look at the speedo though.

As a kid we had a 7500 blizzard it would go 105mph. That's when I was 10-12 years old no helmet! Funny I made it to be an adult
