Just wondering with no 2020 or 2021 MTX Sidewinder in Yamaha's line up and now a Yamaha blue Alpha being offered in 2021 is the Sidewinder MTX finished what do you guys think.

I would think so. Nobody buys them so why make them. People who buy Yamaha want quality not cat junk. Seams to me that Yamaha just doesn't care about mtn sleds any more

Unlike other brands that MTX will last until something else arrives

Drew562 i hope your 2018 cat hasn't died yet ! My 97 mod mountain max still has the original pistons in it . Im glad u like your cats and thats great but if u had to sled to the north pole and back nobody would pick a cat . Yamaha has produced very high quality snowmobiles for a long time. Ive owned all the modern brands brp Polaris cat Yamaha. They all have somthing for everybody, if Yamaha would just build they own mountain sled people would buy it ,they dont want a yamacat .

Im thinking you wont want to go from a apex to a weed wacker.

There aren't a lot of 4 strokes left in the mountains these days, I know a few guys that traded their boosted apex's and nytro's for stock 2-strokes.

I'll take my light 2-stroke over a pig of a 4 stroke anyday. Besides I like sound of a screaming turbo 2-stroke, especially when compared to the honda civic like sound of a 4 stroke.

I've rode everything but boys. They all break. I Had an apex and 3 different built nytros. 153-162-174”. Yamaha builds a good sled. But nothing’s perfect. Reverse fails. Cracked manifolds. As far as motors going down. No.
. Mine were Boosted. Sold Around 10,000 km each. I’m sure they are still running.

You don't have to be so mean. If you cant handle the 4 stroke you cant handle it. No big deal. And what's wrong with a honda civic? Doesn't accurately portray the size of your ???? ;);)

Can’t throw a alpha kit on a btx unless you want to drop and roll. Easy to find a low mile 2018 mtx and do it though.
You can still buy a B-TX. Pretty easy to throw a 165 Alpha skid and track in and you would probably have one of the funnest reliable sleds on the hill.

I actually know of 4 individuals looking for SW's, 3 ride cookie cutters and one wants to move from his current TNytro.
The MTX is a hard find, yes there is the option of the BTX but some don't want to spend the extra coin in doing an MTX swap but would rather use that coin in a powerup.

The good thing from this, is there are no Sidewinder groupies hanging out anywhere and the cookie cutter riders are not cut out for it and hate it for the lack of. So that makes the mountain Sidewinder truly the Yeti of sleds. You might hear talks of it or even hear the echo bouncing from some far off mountain. If your lucky you might even spot a shadow of a glimpse of one. All I know is they don't hang around long enough and are darn near impossible to follow deep in the high alpine.

Thanks Yamaha, oh did I mention, there is a demand for them. Ya and its great for resale value.

So please, continue the trend hate the 4stroke, buy the newest and greatest 2smoke and join your groupies of cookie cutters then flood your market with a low value. you got to LOVE IT, I do. Lastly, don't forget to buy your warranty, your going to need it sooner then later.

You are right about there not being a lot of yamaha turbo's in our area! But not everyone wants to listen to the wine of a 2 stroke when they can have the roar of a turbo apex or the blow off of a turbo viper or sidewinder. The hills I can go straight over the 2 strokes have to sidehill to get up. Honestly to each their own!! Just ride, have fun and love life as it is to short.
