The importance of Weight Distributing Hitches

Just saw this gif on another car forum figured it would be a good post for here as it many people are preparing their enclosed trailers for the winter. Balancing the weight of your trailer is critical to sway control, even before separate hitches etc.

Seems as though every year we see smaller trucks pulling bigger and bigger trailers into the mountains without any weight distribution hitches. A loaded 4 place being pulled with a half ton seems commonplace now.

Nice little demonstration. It seems to be showing the importance of weight distribution on the trailer though ie not enough tongue weight. Too much tongue weight making the front of the tow vehicle light then you need a properly set up distribution hitch.

That video shows the importance of load distribution within a trailer. To show what a weight distribution hitch does, the video would have to show another weight moved from the trunk of the car to the hood of the car.
