So i got a used brake controller..I want to put it in a 04 GMC P/U


I need to know what colour wires come from the truck pigtail and go into the brake controller???? I thought i had it right and ..no worky...I am ready to smash it with a hammer and buy a new one...FUG SAKES...THANKS

And i did plug it into the trailer,,lights all work on the trailer,,just nothing on the controller

Did ya check to see if there is a fake red fuse and also if it hasnt been hooked up u have to take the fuse box cover off and hook the red and blue wire wire eyelets

Nothing on google...She had a controller inthe truck before,,some one took it out,,should plug right in...It is a d max so all the chit should be there,,,,,,i am losing patience.

Ya fuse is there under the hood..unless the controller is facked maybe.

Ya. Does the led go green ?? When pluged into the trailer.

Have a test light to check the bumper plug for power from the controler

Also there should be 2 heavy wires and 2 lighter wires.

The red small is from the pedal
The blue - blue is the brake out wire
Red or black heavy wire is power
White is ground

had a bitch of a time in my 07 sierra had to hard wire right from the battery, i fought with it finally had to bring it to my brother in law whos a mechanic they chased it for couple hours finally just hard wired it not sure if its correct but worked like a hot damn...then 4 trips later with new trailer traded it in on new silverado brake controller built right into dash...problem solved

Ok. I have switched wires around. No luck. Solution is try again later.
But thanks Tex. I am done friggen with it tonight.

On my 08 it's built in to I think the controller is bitched. Just gonna get a new one instead

you should be able to hook it direct to a 12v source and pull the manual lever over and it should turn "a" light on?

mine wasn't working tonight so i got digging around and found two wires disconnected got it up and running check your fuses to

Yes he could on the bench but the controler needs to be loaded( hooked to trailer or test light to work).

Make sure you wire harness is for an 04! They like to change pin location every year

Ya it might not be for a 04 I have three of them kicking around at home
I am gonna give it another go tonight. This time it better work. Or I am gonna smash it lol

use the brake controller as a "skeet" for your shooting practice?
