Will work fine. Just do a nice job of the hole. I would try to secure it to the frame instead of the bed. Will look nice then adding screws or bolts to hold the plate in place

I had a wood boxliner in my old Ford and I just drilled straight through, slid an 18"x 3" x 3/8" piece of plate with a hole in it over the threads and tightened it up with a lockout. Worked great and you would break the skis off long before that would pull through the box.

Park your sled in there and drill the hole where the clamp goes on the ski. Worry about the rest later. It has to go there in the end lol Big washers, a Nylok and pinn it
