I had an 06 rt 1000.loved it all stock but a can and GEN II skis, owned it 2 yrs had a fuel pump problem ,that was it. The 05's were a little more pron to fuel issues.I'd buy another if I was'nt hooked on 4 STROKES.

A lot of the 1000's went down due to excessive belt dust and debris ingestion. This creates a buildup of crud on the rod bearings. As this engine is also semi-direct fuel injected, there is very little gas in the crank to help wash off some of this crud. So,installing Uni-filter pods[ inside the airbox] on the throttle bodies or using the Timbersled filter pods on the throttle bodies will eliminate most of this problem.

My brother and I both own them. His is 06 and mine is o5 with an 07 motor. We put the pods and pre-filters on for the dust issue and have had 0 problems.

Happens to be for sale if your looking.

uhh what about your motor that granaded for no reason last season?

nice looking sled though why are you getting rid of it

...So either the pistons (Wiseco) expanded faster than the cylinder causing the seisure or the coating chipped and haug-up the ring. Either way it was rebuilt with new BRP Cylinders and Pistons.....

Huh? Forged pistons that are not as dimensionally stable as cast pistons? now....... where have we heard that before? ;) LOL

Sorry Maxwell, I know you're not going to like my reply, but I had to say it anyway... :d

Friend of mine has one. His died in the last ride because of coolant ingestion. Probably a base gasket or something. Man those things are heavy pigs when they are dead.
Isn't a shortblock something like 5 grand when they really go?

They really aren't that much heavier then a rev, and when your riding you can't notice it because of all the extra power. Just got to trim a lot of stuff off and they get light. They are 71lbs heavier stock, but can loose more weight easier then a rev, and a 800 even 162" won't hold a candle to the 1000 in any type of steep or deep.

And the engine price seems to scare a lot of people off because they don't know what it costs. The failures were only common because of running cold, or other minor issues. The engine itself is bulletproof.

The only slight problem i've had on mine is if it's kinda warm and no loose on a trail it can overheat a tiny bit easier then other sleds. But who rides on a trail more then they have to anyways?!

But I would say they are not a sled for someone smaller because it would be harder to pull around.

i always hear everyone raving about these 1000 summits but i have NEVER seen one take down a stock 800 rev or xp. i guess because there are not that many around

3200... thats 1000 more than a 800 short block

are you saying its 71 lbs heavier than a stock rev?

i dont see how you can drop weight any differant than a rev its all the same components basicaly.

71lbs almost eatts the extra 10 hp it makes

ps. modman i still stand by my veiws on forged pistons hahahaha

I guess you have never seen a good running 1000 yet then. Stock 1000 151-541 lbs.175hp stock is a bit more than 10hp over a stock 800rev which is 151hp as you know.Torque is what the 1000 is all about. And its got lots.

Really?-Better do some research Max.

Sorry dude but Maxwell is right - the 1000 does not make 175 hp stock. Take it to a dyno shop. They never made that much HP, no matter what Ski Doo published as production values. I would say 160ish is right around what they were making from the factory, 165 tops.

Well guys I wish I could transfer graphs on this computor but I cant so I guess you will have to take my word or go to Dootalk-Machz site. Blue max put up a Dyno sheet showing various ECU maps for the stock 1000.I run the 07 mid-alt map so I will just show hp #'s ranging from 7000rpm to 8100rpm. 7000-153.5,7100-155.8,7200-163.6,7300-167.9,7400-175.3,7500-177.5,7600-180.1,7700-182.5,7800-183.1,7900-182.5,8000-179.1,8100-170.2. The 05 and the 06 never came with this mapping. Once installed though,it made a big difference in performance in cleaning up the bottom end bog and plug fouling issues that plaged the 1000.

BWAHHHAHAHAHAAHA!!!
Whoa! here we go.
183.1....... I see your (DYNO crayon) is a little outa control there.

Well Bikeman claims 189 hp on the 1000 with all his mods,:rolleyes:

He also claims 180 for his 880r.:rolleyes:

We all know that inflates his #'s by 10 hp

Just called Echo marine:
Doo 1000 SDI shortblock $4226.25 taxes in.

Haven't priced it out, my motor is still strong as ever. I know it's a lot more then a 800 but so is a 4 stroke, so is a turbo, gotta pay for the extra power I guess :d If prices keep diving on them, i'm going to have to pick up a spare just to keep, because I can't see myself riding anything else. A 800 feels like a 500 fan after riding the 1000.

I can't say exactly how much HP, but night and day over a 800 rev. More of a jump then the 600 to 800 by far, and that is based on both 07's. And I have seen dynos saying around low 170's stock, and with some minor tweaking and a pipe high 170's.

A few climbs tell me it has more power then the new dragons to. Nothing better then your 5k sled laying a licking on your buddies brand new 15k one :d
