Summer XRS Project Build

[Maverick800XRS]

It started out with a few things changing for the new season and ended up being a lot more and a ton of work haha, but i am happy with the results!!!!

The list goes like this

-Changing skid to Holz suspension
-Tunnel extension 159 to 162, the suspension came with the rails so i said WTH haha
-XP 154 heavy duty bumper to work with the extension
-Challenger Extreme 162X16X2.5 3 Pitch + 3 pitch 7 tooth Avid drivers
_DJ clutch kit to spin the new track + his new ramps
-Drop and Roll chain case
-Smitty's Drop brackets (unfortunately had to remove them for the time being due to track to front suspension arm clearance... hoping once the track stretches out and takes shape i will be able to run them again)
-Custom running boards by High roller trucks (Thanks Kev!) [needed to be stiffer and i was tired of kicking my sled to get all the ice off]
-New side panel and shock tower plastics
-JC custom vents (Knee, Check mark & Shock tower)
-SLP high flow intake
-Assorted black powder coating and blue anodizing
-Sanded and polished tunnel

Let's just say that it would have been at least double if i hadn't done it myself!!! in the end does the price really matter? :d Ridding this season with the perma grin is what it's all about! and beating my buddies of course

nice f'n sled, thanks for posting the pics. Its nice to see whats going on in some peoples garages. Such a good feeling riding it after you put the time and effort into something like that. Probably took just as long to post all the pics. Hope to see it in person sometime.

Nice job and great lookin sled. Just curious about why you went to the small vents on the side panels instead of keeping your original ones? I have been looking at kits and thought the bigger ones would be nicer.

i have the big vents i seem to rip the material when i go hunting for trees, next time i'll go for a diff brand...

yeah the big vents get taken out easily. but if you just drill some circle holes with a hole saw rather than cutting out the whole space they last longer.

Muhaha can't wait to try this 2.5 paddle... im thinking it will have traction in pretty well anything... powder, hard pack, trees sleds and people!!! LOL

I always enjoy looking at everyone else's builds on the forums so i figured some people might appreciate mine. It's a very good feeling indeed... if you see me on the hill don't be shy!! im very approachable and maybe we can ride together

LOL!!! ya i know how that can feel... but good for me those things don't apply for sledding you can have fun with sledding with as much or little money as you want (seen guys riding that can barley afford the gas), theres ALWAYS time for sledding.... and talent well i guess that just sort of comes over time, lucky for me iv always had talent with my hands since i was liddle it also helps to have the tools to do something like this!

The large ones... i cut the whole thing out so if the sled was ever rolled over or carving in the deep it would bend them in, also while carving and the material i had used it would let snow in, i had a problem with powder getting on the clutches. I used window screen for mine rather than the pet screen that people use now (didn't know what i was at the time). Also with the position of my knee vents on the old panels i wouldn't of been able to run the SLP high flow, i even had to chop off the last row on the SLP vent to make it work with the new knee vents. My sled was NEVER hot, especially in the spring... I still have them if anyone wants to take them off my hands... the frames need a repainting and need to be recovered but they will still work, ill sell em cheap

So now i have an additional vent i never had before (shock tower) im hoping it will work like ram air and force it's way through the motor compartment and right out the knee vent on the back side

Biggest problem i had with mine was rolling the sled over, every time i did i had to open the side panel and push the alum frame back out....
