Very nice, where about did your guide take you?
I tend to fish Sturgeon from Mission bridge to about 2-3 kilometers past Hope. Did you have any that raised and danced out of the water? I had one that actually burnt out one of my reels a couple years back just off a bar west of Hope. The freckin Sturgeon actually beached my boat and we were stuck for about an hour.
We were in Lilooet. We weren't to far out of town the first one we caught. The others were a bit further but only a 20 min boat ride. Never had any dance. Was hoping they would! I want to try farther down the river closer to the coast. Maybe take my boat
If you have a prop boat i recommend to stay west of the Mission bridge, its safer though the river can be navigated with a prop boat depending on size all the way to about Chilliwhack, it is luck of the draw not to get grounded. The fraser travels at about 15mph after Hope so enough to put you in trouble. The water can get very shallow east of the bridge, i have seen lots of prop and non prop stuck on the fraser river. It is a very tricky river to navigate as visibility is ZERO, and the bottom silt changes all the time. I highly recommend a sounder and a marine chart either paper or electronic as the fraser river has many bars and tree covered islands and it is easy to get turned around into bad areas with very shallow water....after Hope all the way to Port Mann bridge.
I've traveled on the Thompson river, rafted and jetboat and though it looks more intimidating then the Fraser cause of the fast white water, i find the Fraser some what more challenging. Its bottom changes daily and you would never know, from 4ft to inches scraping the bottom, all in the middle of the river.
