Rolling a sled out of a stuck is getting pretty common. If you are on a hill or in a position that the terrain allows rolling the sled out of a stuck it is often a good option. On a hill you get to use gravity to remove your sled. Simply pull the sled downhill and roll it one full turn back to a rideable position. The steepness of the hill may make some nervous or if trees are below you and the rolling sled will hit the tree. Rolling of the sled must be done carefully on steep slopes or once it starts rolling it may not want to stop. We generally pull the bars and get it on its side, then get below it and pull on the skis to get it to come over on to the seat. It is a good idea to move uphill or in front of the sled once the sled is inverted so you don't have the sled roll over you. Control the roll by holding the ski loops or handle bars. If it is way to steep to roll the sled, dig a flat landing area below your machine before you attempt.

If there are trees in the way, once the sled is on its side, you can usually pull the skis and or the track to rotate the sled to a better position as it will slide better on the side panels than on the track.

if you are on the flats and want to roll a stuck sled the track is likely augured in. You can lift the back up first but that is a lot of work. Often you can start the sled and spin the track to cut away the snow while starting your roll. This must be done carefully as a spinning track can be dangerous. This saves a lot of time and energy. As the track is spinning aggressively pin the throttle and pull the bars to the side to initiate the roll.

Other helpful techniques for rolling a sled are adding tools such as a strap to gain leverage. If you put a strap on the bars and put one foot on the spindle and the other on the running board and lean back, you get to get your body weight out past the sled and the sled rolls up much easier than reach over the sled and grabbing the bars.

All these techniques come much easier when buddies are pushing and pulling along side you. Also if you are waiting for them to come and help start stomping the snow around your sled. Your friends will quickly not want to help those who don't try to help themselves.

Sorry no pics or videos for this one but will try and catch some the next time we do it.
