I changed my old belt to a new 377, went to set the height in the secondary and it is very tight around the drive clutch shaft. I'm thinking you maybe set them flush with the top of the belt. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: settting a 377 belt

On my 08 I have it set so the cord is just sitting above the secondary.

yep. 166 only came on the 08s when they first came out. about half way through the season they released the 377. some dealers didnt get it for some time. when i would call with the part# they had never heard of it.

yeah, I cooked my share of 166 belts. every 60 miles....poof. went to a 288 and dialed in the clutching and gearing until the 377 came out, 1200 miles on my first 377 belt.

im going to do the floating qrs in the spring. that way there is no doubt if the alignment is correct. you can never get it perfect.

I just wanted to add, that there are manufacturing flaws that can lead to the same belt model being different lengths. I have two new 377's and one is 1/4 longer than the other, both never on a sled. Not a huge difference but it simply means you need to set your deflection for that particular belt.

Setting the belt flush with the top would likely be too low. I have found as the others mentioned, the cord just above or even with the top. When your sled is on the ground, it shouldn't be creeping forward but when the track is raised it may have a slight ability to move/jog ahead or with a little push on the paddles.

If you get too much movement, adjust again.
