Ok "crystal falls" is on the same trail as what locals call "Box Canyon" and the government calls " Cardinal headwaters trail".

So to get to ruby from the bottom of the divide you head down the road towards the PR road. You go past the wash out " jeeps or ohv's only) and you just stay on that road quite a long ways. The turn will be on your right or the same side as the mountains.
there's a little open area and a kiosk right along the river. Just follow the beaten path n cross the river until u get to the cutline. You follow that cutline down and at the next river crossing u can go straight or turn right. Turn right and you'll find the trail that follows the river. I think it's about 22 km's from the Kiosk to Ruby Falls.

there is a couple other ways in but one of the other ways is REALLY muddy in one stretch. Ruby lakes is on that trail and worth checking out. Tons ofvtrails in that area u just gotta explore around.

P.s.. B4 u get to the Ruby turn off there is another kiosk at Toma mountain trail. Just stay on the main road and keep going till u get to the ruby staging area ( not marked) u can't miss it unless your driving like an idiot. Lol
there is ways to hit the Ruby Falls trails with hardly any road riding but way to hard to explain.

Went there found it with GPS , almost missed it at the ruby creek crossing down the first part of the trail , you have to continue right down the creek instead of following trail forward . Anyone know where that trail goes ? Also there is a second trail past ruby lake that goes to the falls but couldn't find the enterence. Anyway falls were worth it , nice ride . Not difficult , group had large and small bore machines a dirt bike and side by side

When u get to the creek/river if you turn right that's the way u went to Ruby Falls. If you go straight that takes you into "South Esk" beautifull country back in there that takes you right to the Jasper park boundry. I should put a sign up at that junction one day.

Thats funny we did that run last summer and i thought we went straight at 2:11 and still made it to the falls but im probably mistaken it was our first trip and we just new we had to keep following the river bed.It is a great run,we plan to do it a little earlier this year maybe july, any idea how deep it is then?

When the South Ram River was open long long ago, you did not want to be on it if it started to rain, there is a memorial along the banks of a younger gentleman that was washed over the upper falls as it swept him and quad away in fast current. "Not saying there are any water drops along this River.

A ride with Don Griffis from Erving Palmer's camp lead us on an outing up there, flash rain storm rolled threw as we watched the trickling creek become a ragging river torrent in about 20 minutes, less then an hour it returned to normal.

Food for thought. Pal Lem

Usually Summer starts around that area in July. So Rivers should be fine by then. Would be nice to see a bridge put in there to keep the Fish healthy. It's getting to be a popular trail.
Maybe the two coal mines would chip in for a bridge lol.

And if you went straight no way you'd make it to the falls unless there's a trail that heads back to the river/creek.

I took a jeep in there last year and found a bunch of new trails i never saw on a quad... Guess i was going to fast.

Another must do ride is Box Canyon just below the Cardinal Divide. SRD is thinking of ****ting that one down which is bs because it's one of the only trails around if not the only trail that was actually modified and built for atv's. Couple of jeeps went in there a few years back and started mud bogging the area just before the flats. Instead of just building a basic bridge across the muddy section they shut it down to jeeps which i think is wrong. The rest of the trail is good old Canadian Rockies rock and there's nothing to hurt or erode away if u stay on the trail.
They gave a couple of $2500 finds out to some clowns that were ripping it up off trail and I'm glad they did that. There's no need to tear that all up in such a pristine area.

We want to do box canyon when we're camp there in july also.I'm sure i'll be looking for directions in the months to come.

Ya it's a one way in and one way out. Awesome little trail i think it is 15km one way.

Lots of puddles on the trail in but no real mud.

Takes you right into the heart of the mountains.

There is Camping at the trail head and one more spot just down the road from it but if u drive all that way then find out someone is in there it'll b a long drive back to Cadomin.
If you go through the tiny town of Cadomin
Make sure to stop in and buy something from the little store there. I always try to get my food/booze there because i don't ever want to see that store shut down! Lol it's pretty handy to have.
