After a nice hill climb, i came down on a stump in the left footwell area...... Tunnel is not damaged, but the footwell and brace/bracket/support and metal and plastic damaged..... Lucky i never had my foot in the footwell at the time! I accepted the insurance buy-out and took my sled back. It will now be considered a "rebuilt" sled in the registries eyes. I straightened some of the damage last nite so i could get a grinder to all the rivets. Still have to remove the drive axle and primary so i can get to the tunnel on the inside. Already removed the skid..........
Some before pics, then a pic of what the support should look like(a used one from threadkiller here on the site, and owner of sled recyclers --- thanks, dusty), then pics of it partially straightened out...... The lower sheetmetal is ripped/torn and lots of rivets pulled out

Ground and chiselled off all the rivets from the support brackets to remove, then straightened the metal out as good as i could -- metal is ripped/cut in several places........ Going to machine shop tomorrow to weld up the cracks/rips and then will put a reinforcing plate underneath........ The twisted/folded metal straighten out better than i thought it would .............. This has given me the chance to rebuild the recoil starter, and now replacing all the bearings in the wheels on the skid(rear 2 wheels, the bearings are almost non-existant)

The sled is finished..... Put 'er all back together on saturday......... Just have to replace a cracked/split rear upper skid inner shaft(has been like that for a while, it appears) -- threads stripped on the side with the crack. Otherwise, very happy with how the repair turned out......... Looks great!!!

just as a side note...in my experience (autobody shop owner) your sled should not come up as "repaired" with registries ,it should remain "active" status... the write off/repaired etc status is for "on hiway" vehicles only..written off on offroad stuff normally just means your insurance thot it was cheaper and easier to pay you out than to deal with fixing it...have fun...Hardy
