Pull start won't pull

Sometimes my pull start cord for my xm won't pull, go to pull it and just will not go more then 1/4 of a full pull and will not start, then if I pull very slowly and easy and work it up to a full pull starts no problem, anybody no why this is and has it happened to anybody?

Are you doing this on super cold days? Mine is like that below minus 27C . Starts, but hard to pull over. Really hard.

pull harder
