Primary clutch question

I have a 2008 xp summit 146" and I noticed a noise in my primary clutch and I have a backup but it's from a 2010 XP 163 " . Will I be able to use this for a backup?

Kind of. Ramps are different. Spring is slightly different on start.
160/320 spring in '08, 200/320 spring in '10 slightly higher engagement. 413 ramps in '08 and 441 ramps in '10. Buy a set of 413 ramps and swap. Could leave the spring, but the 160 start will pull away a little softer.

So if I use the ramps out of the 146" clutch in the 163" I would be better off ? . I'm not to fimilar with clutches and I'm heading to BC tomorrow

It rattles pretty good when it's ilding but when I give it gas it don't . I leave for BC tomorrow and was just going to switch them out .

Could be just the slider shoes worn a bit or maybe even a bushing worn or both.

Ok so I'm going put the ramps from my 146" clutch and put them in the 163" clutch . Which spring do you think would work better for in the mountains . The one from my 146 or 163 ? I will be putting the clutch from the 163 on my 146 because it's partially new.

I would just get a rebuild kit for your 08 clutch ,but if you swop clutches I would leave the 441's in they are better ramps .

My clutch was making same noise as you describe. So I just recently had it all apart and found the slider shoes and o-rings were pretty worn out. My ramps were pretty worn out as well and were no longer a smooth transition. My sled is a 08 as well and I put new 413 ramps in her and runs good and feels way smoother now and no rattles. As other guys have stated I would just leave the 441 ramps in for now and then do a rebuild on your 08 clutch.

441 ramps will load engine quicker and a little harder, thus causing what will feel like lag after running the 413 ramps. the '10 uses the 441 with different springs and helix then the '08. o no, one can not just simply put the 441 ramps in with all the components of the '08 clutch and say it works better. Also to be fair the entire clutch set in both plays a factor.
I have multiple kits out there with 413,414, ramps that will destroy other set ups I 441.

Sorry slededjr after I had posted that I quickly realized I was mistaken and checked and noticed that I did have 413 in it originally and replaced them with 413 so I edited my post so that there is no confusion.

I just like to make sure people understand that usually changing one component des not make much difference. A lot of folks will put a DJ or RB helix in and do nothing else and then say how crappy it worked, yadadada. lol
all the components are key elements.
would hate to see this guy install the 441 and find it a laggy p.o.s. everyone likes something different. try both and see which you prefer

Hmmm interesting I didn't think their would be guys changing just the helix, mine as well just buy the whole kit in my opinion. Yeah same here that's why I wanted to edit my post before anyone saw it and do what I had said and wonder why their sled doesn't have much go, but you caught me before I was able to correct myself .
