FYI. Paradise, This area is very difficult and has very complex terrain to access. Due to recent snow and heavy cloud cover I would excpect it has not been broken yet. If you plan to go, make sure you are well informed of the Avalanche conditions and keep your group safe.

Salmon, The trail has been set many times this year only to be snowed in again. The trail right now is very good and riders have been doing repairs to it on there way out to help keep it that way. This is also very complex terrain and requires the upmost respect to ensure a safe and successful day.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Hello Riders

There is a commercial backcountry ski touring operation/lodge in the North Blue river headwaters. The snowcat road has been put in for transporting people (ski tourers) in a passenger snowcat and this access is maintained by this local company. It is not a "groomer" and does not have a drag or grooming frame. Please also note that there are commercially guided ski touring groups throughout the headwaters of the North Blue and a long time established skiers and trapper's cabin, est. 1995. Please avoid snowmobiling around ski touring groups if possible.

There are several large slide paths that overlap the valley bottom to access the riding areas here. The avalanche danger remains considerable in this area at the present time, with the potential for large full path avalanches. The snowmobile access trail travels through these slide paths which have very large terrain traps at the bottom of the run outs. There has been extensive wind loading and cornice building in the alpine over the past few weeks. We are still seeing isolated but very large full path avalanches in the alpine even during periods of stable weather. These avalanches involve deeper layers of the snowpack and can propagate over a very large area. The "Paradise" access utilizes one of these class 4 slide paths, which currently has a massive cornice that threatens the entire access slope.

The commercial tenure holder (not heli-skiing) in the area has been meeting with Steve Masse, Bill Karas and other Blue River club members to develop a shared use of the area that adequately manages the avalanche risk for both parties through timed separation. Please support ski tourers and local business's in the valley through cooperation of these local agreements. This business supports all activities in the area and the much improved management approach, effort and cooperation made by the local snowmobile club the, BRPP.

This company provides timely and professional avalanche, weather and snowpack information to the Canadian Avalanche Centre for this area. Everyone who visits the Blue River area backcountry benefits from this contribution of professional information and this helps save lives. So again please show your support for all users if you can. Have fun out there and always maintain your situational awareness to other groups activities.
