Any where there is snow
Try the Caroline or the Bearberry areas. The Olds Club has a staging area about 2 - 3 miles straight west of the old Bearberry store (west of Sundre on secondary 584) and the Caroline Club has their main staging area about 15 - 18 miles straight west of Caroline(on secondary 591). There is a connecting trail from the Olds staging area to the Caroline trail system so that means quite alot of new area to explore. Snow conditions are pretty decent at the moment and if you do a little exploring you can find some untouched powder (Yes I Said Untouched Powder!!!!) as we did on Sunday. Enjoy.

Thank you Britt for the information and help. Hopefully try to go out there and ride on Sunday to do some exploring. Maybe we will run into you someday out on the trails ?

When the snow conditions are good that is a very nice area to ride, lots of trails and great scenery.

We are experiencing a very serious snow eating chinook at the moment and the forcast for the next couple of days are for warmer weather +10 - +13. The snow in the trees should be fine but out in the open areas and south exposed hills it could get a little sketchy. Keeping fingers crossed it will not get as warm as they say, it would be a shame because we received a good dump of snow Tuesday, Wednesday of last week and that was on top of a good base. The temperature is to drop mid next week with a possibility of snow Wednesday, Thursday.

Does anyone have any info on current conditions after this chinook went through on the trails around Caroline? Thinking about taking the wife out for some trail riding.

When out last Sunday for a day ride with the wife and kids. Unloaded at the Olds stageing area, went on the Caroline trails. Trails were hard packed with a few hazards showing. Had a good day over all though.

Olds staging area is about 2 - 3 miles west of Bearberry. Keep going west till you come to a T intersection (do not follow the highway when it curves north), the staging area is right there. The Caroline staging area is about 15 - 18 miles west of Caroline (just past Ricinus) and it is on the south side of the hi-way. Good luck we have had some very warm weather again, if you stick to the trails in the trees there should be enough snow. We need another good dump of snow and traditionaly we do get good snow in February. Fingers Crossed.

still lots of snow out there. open hill sides like the back side of marble are melting a bit every day. further west on the power line there was a couple inches of fresh on a hard packed trail.

We were out at the Olds trails last weekend. Had a good ride. Fresh snow on the trails . Having some troubles finding the loop trails though. Does anyone have trail maps for this area?
Also found signs that have "SFD" on them. Any idea what this stands for?

Was out west of Bearberry on Saturday (Mar 14/09) with my son. Had a very good ride the main trail is getting pounded out in some sections but we were still able to find a few spots with knee deep powder. All in all we had a very good day although with the warm weather coming this week the conditions will start to deteriorate quite rapidly.

We got a good dump of snow on Sunday and there is to be more snow on Wednesday and the temperature forcast for this week is not to be as warm as first predicted on Sunday. So all this means there could be some decent riding for the next few days.

Here are a few pictures from west of Bearberry Saturday April 4/09. As you can see there was plenty of snow to play in. With the warm weather coming this week I think the sledding is coming to a close for this season.
