oil burning

when is it usual to see a little bit of oil burning on start up? the quads been beaten on hard and put away wet1 its a 05 kodiak 450

does it only smoke when you start uit, or does it smoke while running or hard on the throttle??
Maybe valve stem seals if itt burns on start up.

If it smokes all the time, u may need a top end rebuild.(rings, piston, cyl rehone)
