NE BC riding vs blue river/mcbride?

Hey everyone I am currently living in Alberta but I am looking into transferring to FSJ/Dawson area. I do a lot of sledding currently mostly in blue river/valemount/mcbride. I am wondering how the sledding is up that way and surrounding areas? Does it compare to blue river at all? Mostly ride a lot of technical terrain and trees

There’s lots of riding in Tumbler Ridge and the Pine Pass. The riding season will start later than it does in Revy, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find a ton of riding that’ll make toy more than happy.

There’s also Kakwa that can be accessed from GP or between McBride and PG. it’s a HUGE area that would take a week or more of riding to explore all of, and there’s riding for all types there.

I did look at the maps and they do look like huge areas! Do they get the snowfall like Revy and blue river?

As mentioned there's lots of great riding in the TR and Pine Pass. I actually prefer riding Tumbler over most places down south. Not as much snowpack but still plenty

I think the biggest advantage is the lack of people. The 'main' areas in the Interior are feeling overrun and even the secret zones are seeing a lot more traffic. Plus the snow up there is super dry!

Good snow in Powder King and Kakwa and sometimes in Tumbler ridge. I have had 3'+ days in all locations last year. Great thing about all these places is you can usually ride all day and not come across another group. Here is a video in Kakwa last year. Kakwa is a long groomed trail in but sometimes 50 km of groomed is better then 5 km of mogals.

Hidden gems? I fondly remember the crackle of tons of triples firing up every morning when I would be riding the lift at PK back before I discovered snowmobiling.

Hahaha just saying. My uncle live in Houston a bunch of years back. Long drive but good riding.

I have never been to Revy but Kakwa gets a lot of its weather system from McBride, so if its nice there its nice in Kakwa, if its snowing there its snowing in Kakwa. I have ridden days where it snowed 1ft over night at camp, then up higher there was 2-3ft of fresh and fun/not fun if you know what I mean haha.

Don't quote me on this, but I read someplace snowfall in Kakwa is 10-15' depending on elevation, nowhere near Revy but nowhere near the people also. Very similar to McBride as the south part of Kakwa is only 15 miles from Northern part of Renshaw.

PK used to claim 40' annually which would be similar to Revy but that was +-15 years ago so may have changed. Like you said much drier snow but seems like usually a later start for early season riding.
