Qualifying was interesting in that Austin Dillon won the pole even though he had his rear deck lid confiscated from Nascar after failing pre qualifying inspection. Not sure where he will start tomorrow as penalties will be forthcoming. Here were the top 10 cars in qualifying: 3-10-14-2-8-17-12-22-88-42

Lots of penalties announced today because of unapproved adjustments. 9 cars will go to the back including all the Gibbs cars and all the Roush cars. 3 car will have penalties announced on Tuesday and the 1 car has had its car chief pitched from the track for failing inspection twice in a row.

Pretty good race today but I still think they have overthought the plate race packages and its still not as it used to be back years ago. Todays winner was the 9 car under caution as they wrecked on the final lap. Here was the top 10 cars: 9-88-47-8-22-1-6-10-18-62

This was the first win for a car that wasn't from Gibbs or Penske this year. Here's your Race for the Chase standings after Dega: 18-11-2-22-19-9-4-1-12-10-14-41-3-6-88-48

pretty wild wreck on the last lap, Kyle Larson might still be dizzy from all the flipping he did!

me wonders if NASCAR is finally catching on to what Gibbs and Roush are doing to be so good this year, maybe catch Penske next? Not a slight, Hendricks always races on the edge, just the smartest guy to hide the tricks gets the advantage.

I think it was unapproved adjustments on those cars. It was an impound race and I think they couldn't touch the cars after practice before qualifying so that may be what happened. I can't find an explanation but its not something new as have heard of it lots before.

Well boys, it's all over but the crying! Time to chase Chase to the chase and watch him win his first Monster Energy Cup! I might have to make an appearance at Homestead if this goes the way I want it to. Chevy 1,2,3,4... boogity boogity boogity!

Nascar news today:

-3 car fined $25,000 lose 10 driver and owner points and crew chief suspended for next event in Dover for unnapproved deck lid at Dega. RCR will not appeal they say

-Nascar to go back to single car qualifying again after frustration with group qualifying abuse the past few races. All oval tracks will comply with the exception of the road course tracks.

I prefer single car qualifying over the multicar. Each driver gets their moment of fame on tv and the broadcast team have a little history of the driver on the track at that time. On multi car it seems like they spend all the time talking about the top ten drivers. Qualifying can be be as interesting as the race.

I am fine with it to. I guess TV ratings were down with it and they were not that exciting to watch live they say at the track. Sometimes I think Nascar just tries to over think things to much.

Single car qualifying I think takes too long. I guess in Vegas I will need to have a lot of beer while watching it.
