I am looking to buy a used quad in the 2005 to 2008 range and am just wondering what kind of mileage you guys think is acceptable in a used machine. I see alot for sale in the 2000 to 3000km range, is this acceptable?

I put around 500km on a light season 1000km on a good one :) so 2-3000 for a 4 year old machine sounds good. Take a look at the hours as well, it'll help tell you if it's seen a lot of fire roads or just trail riding.

In that range of age I would say it acceptable. My 08 has 2500 kms and my wifes 08 has 1900 kms. There is lots of 08 out there with less then these. Just gotta search for the best deal with the lowest kms. It all depends on how much you wanna spend.

It all boils down to the maintenance that's been done on the machine and who has been riding it. 3000-4000kms is not many miles at all for a machine that has had its oil changed at least every 30-50 hrs, winterized properly, air cleaner cleaned every 3rd ride, brakes done, bushings and wheel bearings..ect. BUT without this maintenance, it can be a piece of ch!t after just 1500 Kms.

My 03 Grizzly has just under 9000kms, I brought it used. It was pretty cheap, but it does what I need it for around the farm yard. Sure it uses some oil, oh well I figure. Going to keep riding till its really bad, then do the engine. Cant see spending of 10g for something to sit most of the time.

I have 2 rhinos a 09 at 9300km and a 10 at about 6000km. Have been pretty good up until now, starting to get into the nickle and dime stuff, and parts are freakin expensive from the oem.

If it`s a Honda quad , at 500 k they are toast, lots of power though...............Too much for the bike as all that power simply tears them apart. It is truly sad................

I've been kicking around the idea of selling my 2006 Kawasaki prairie 700 KVF, 1056km, 60-70hrs? If your interested pm me and I can give you more details.

I had an '06 Honda 400 this summer with 37,900km. Ran like a champ, just didn't stop worth a sh!t. It sold at auction for $2600.

I have purchased used machines before, and the hour meter tells alot. My 06 660 had 180hrs with 2200kms.. I couldn't see a mark on it so IMO it was used as a sight see'er.. Now it has 480 hours and 4700+ k on it... Lot's of inhumane riding.. And any parts I put in besides wear & tear were my own fault... Bearings, 2nd winch, 2 going on three sets of brake pads, both rear cv axles (one my fault, didn't set new seal properly and chewed splines) oil changes, 2 gps mounts(broke from being upside down) and some of the plastics underneath from excessive mud winching'. I got it locally if you're interested I'll tell ya more.

Depending on how many km and if it was maintained. A used machine is as good or better than new to me..

Myself, I try to avoid the dealerships for basics... I can spend an hour or two longer doing it rather that 100+ dollars an hour...
Anything to get riding!

Cheers!
