2400 km on the sled 200 from the rebuild... just found out the rebuild was done by some useless a$$ in Calgary and he didnt re-install the crank properly... so now the dealer is telling me he wont deal with this guy anymore because of bad service and I am out 2 grand. But he told me he felt bad...:crying3:

went to mcbride on the 27th to 29th and on the 28th seen a brand new yamaha sitting at the bottom of a hill and about 5 guys up top and 1 guy walking away from his yamaha. He went off a jump and his handlbars came down and ripped the carbs off i believe and the throttle became pinned. Sled took off. Back of his tunnel was pushed up vertically almost, no handlebars, hood smashed. IT was a write off. The guys first ride all year. 123km on a demo sled that he just bought.

They got it to the cabin. I inquired about airlifting a broken/damaged sled and Yellowhead Choppers from Valemount wanted $1600.00, a little more as they have to refuel at the McBride Airport. Im not sure how much it is at Valemount.

Re: Busted Yammy

THE GUYS PULLED THE YAMMY OUT WITH CRAZY CARPETS ATTACHED TO THE TRACK, TO GET UP THE HILLS THEN ON THE SIDE TRAVERSE PART JUST BELOW THE MIDDLE SADDLE ON THE FRONT SIDE, THEY PULLED OFF THE CRAZY CARPETS AND PULLED IT TO THE CABIN..... APPARENTLY THE GUY WAS PULLING ANOTHER SLED AND HE HIT SOMETHING AND JARRED HIM FORWARD AND HE SNAPPED THE STEERING COLUMN AT THE WELD JUST BELOW THE HANDLEBARS, AND THEN THE SLED JUTTED FORWARD AND HE FELL BACKWARDS OFF THE SLED AND THE THROTTLE CABLES STUCK AND HIS "TURBO" KICKED IN AND THE SLED ROCKETED UP AND OVER A LEDGE AND DOWN THE OTHER SIDE. WAY MUCH CARNAGE. SEE RON'S PICS. NOW, QUESTION IS: SHOULD YAMAHA COVER A POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN(ALTHOUGH THE FELLOW HAD A SMALL 2" RISER) AND TRY TO GET YAMMY TO PAY FOR ALL THE CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE, OR SHOULD HE TRY INSURANCE??? I'M GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER POST ABOUT INSURANCE QUESTIONS....... PLEASE SEE THAT TOO. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL:cool:

I think Yamy aught to cover the stearing column. Putting a 2" riser on is no big deal. Yamaha dealers are installing these risers on new sleds. Sounds like the stearing column is minor compared to the rest of the damage!
