We still have a 2000 Powder Special 600 which we run, if I remember correctly it weighed in around 530 pounds.

With the decals removed, some clutching and the track reversed, it hauls a** at altitude. Well for a old 600. I'm sure it was the decal removal that added the horsepower.

Anyway a new mtn Cat with a hairdryer weighing in around the same should really haul a**, well maybe once the decals come off. :d

Of course if a new mtn Cat does have boost the great part would be being able to maintain your horsepower and not worry about clutching at what ever altitude you are at.

By the way when are they going to add a spelling check onto this forum?

all i can say is we sell the 4 stroke yamaha's and they all have there advantages...let see a lighter 4 stroke, wouldnt be all bad...specially if

its like 180-200 plus horse...at one point weight is not such an issue...

but time will tell.....

If that's what is coming, I think I will stick with the 2010 M8 until they beef it up! It will be like the nytros, Poos and Doos. Every time I go out, one of these new ones are twisting something up. I had a full season on a nytro and hated it. Have a few friends with the new etecs. I could ride them and do what I needed too but if I hit a bump, I don't want to be paying a few hundred to replace an a-arm or spindle. JMHO!!!

By the way...I would screw my M8 if it was into that!

seen that list on a-chat. i think there are more 4-strokes on that list than 2-strokes.

If nothing else it will be interesting to see what really does come out. Then all the talk will start always good for a laugh... are sleds headed down a new trail is this a one year deal just to see how it will work , if they release a mnt turbo will they lose their shirts on break downs, maybe a limited # of them? I am sure there will be guys rushing out to snow check one, but would you be one.... still so many questions, so many laughs to be had

If, I remember correctly a few years back there was rumors about one of the manufacturers working on a new chassis for four strokes. The engine was to be a stressed member of the chassis, there by allowing for some weight loss.
Perhaps Arctic Cat's new chassis for 2012?

Arctic cat has had the 1100 four stroke in both NA and turbo for a number of years now, so I do not belive that mechanical breakdowns on a mountain sled would be an issue if this is the direction they are headed in.

I would have to think that a turbo trail sled and a mountain sled run it totally different worlds. I have heard of some long track conversions in the AC turbos but no long term use or anyone with serious amount of miles on one of them.

It's to bad there is so much snow on the test mule in the picture if it is from Arctic Cat. It looks like Arctic Cat may be experimenting in using tubular style running boards similar to Skinz Air Frame Running Boards
