Hello.

I am from Vancouver, BC.
Just purchased a 2001 Summit 800 Highmark, first real sled i've had, I also own a Yamaha exciter 250, and a Skidoo 340. Before this sled the largest one I had riden extensively was an Arctic Cat 530. The new sled is bigger and has more potential, so im super stoked to get going. It has some issues that need addressing though, and I'm hoping someone can help me out with finding a local shop that takes care of these old ZX framed machines.

Anyways super excited to be sledding this year, hope to meet some of you, if anyone wants to go for a ride or impart some wisdom regarding the 800`s send me a PM.

Regards,
Easton.

PS: Anyone got any funny stories regarding purchasing their sleds? I was looking at my sled and testing it without the owner present (trusting guy, eh?) and was satisfied so i got on the phone and called him up, negotiated a price, and came to an agreement. My dad who was with me to help load the sled got a little impatient, and not 30seconds after I purchased the sled he jumps on, starts it up, and immediately guns the throttle. The sled hits the ramp, runs up the trailer and impacts the front bar. The trailer (which was on loan from a family friend) gets damaged, and the sled takes Body and possibly minor mechanical damage (havent had a chance to inspect yet).

PSS: looking for a bottom pan for a 2001 Summit 800 if anyones got one =).

Welcome to the site!!!:wavymsn:
Your story brought up too many memories, and funny times, but the one I laugh at everytime I think about it is my, one buddy borrowed a Yamaha Apex Turbo for our annual trip to Alaska with the impression that if he liked it , then he was going to buy it. So we're sleeping at his place for the night, and first thing in the morning we here a sled start up and run for a bit as he warms it up, then we hear him giving it a bit more power, then all of a sudden, we hear the sound of the machine full throttle. We think he's lifted up the track and is cleaning it out or just showing off, until we here a whole bunch of yelling coming from down below and we smell burning rubber. What happened is as he was loading it onto the trailer, and hit the left hand brake, or what he thought was the break, but was actually a left hand throttle, and it did an accidental break stand on the trailer for about 10 seconds. Good thing it was a solid snow rack in the front of the trailer and that nobody got hurt. There was sure alot of rubber laid down on the trailer. Needless to say he bought the machine after we got back.:rolling:

Hillclimber: We have a family cabin up near hundred mile where in the past I've done all of my riding, but now that I have a machine with some go, I want to start doing Whistler/Squamish/Pemberton rides. For this season most of the riding will probably be just up at the cabin though, while I work out the sled's bugs.

Stripe: Tagged my location on the map.

GrnBoyz: Lol, yeah same sorta thing, after its been involved in something your kinda stuck. Any serious damage or was it just the ton of rubber missing from the track? I assume that had to get replaced.

Welcome to the site and just remember...he's your dad so you have to love him anyway!:d. Just think of the repairing as a good way of starting a relationship with your sled.

Welcome to this site. After a 15 hour day at work I drove 50 miles to pick up my 93 RXL in Edson. It was in for a new seat and they had no gas so put av fuel in it. I lined it up to load on the deck, hit the throttle and nailed that deck at warp speed and landed on the roof of my pick-up. Didn't hurt the sled but caved the roof in. After that every time I went back there they asked if I was there for LANDING LITES..... ha ha
Enjoy your new sled.

Luckily no damage to the buddy, the machine, or the trailer. Just a whole pile of smoke and a good carpet of rubber on the deck of the trailer
