Great point, they say that a off the floor 850 made 170, “cough” BS. I would like to know how much timing was added to get those numbers, as well. More to the story im thinking.
That being said that new jaws pipe may just be good for 10+ hp.
Big bonus is it comes insulated like the stock pipe.

I am curious if this pipe makes the power it claims, especially at altitude.

Jim doesn’t have his site updated yet with the full story. Should be later today. I would suspect some timing adjustments were made.

I was talking to Rob at SMS about a new head, that total hp gain was around 16. A buck seventy out of the box is a little rich I think. Maybe next year we will set up a dyno!? Lol

Rich from DynoPort was on FB Sledderz page trash talking everyone a wee or so ago claiming that he was the only one to make at HP gains with his pipe and that it was impossible to make any HP improvements unless the pipe was totally re designed. Come, bend, tail etc. I had a conversation with him as we know each other for quite some time now on that page basically saying that his claim is false and that Greg made 10HP on the dyno with his pipe. Rich basically said it was not true that the dyno run must have been a quick second or two pull showing only a simple flash of peak HP. I told Rich I’d pass that message along which i did to Greg. Greg basically replied with a “hold my beer and watch this” dyno run at Jim’s shop. At Greg’s shop in Ontario this pipe made a solid 10HP at first required a fuel controller. (Testing was done all summer) once the weather dropped colder and humidity etc changed the fuel programmer was not required any more ad he made a slight change to the bushing at end of pipe. The pipe appears to be making more HP (4) at Jim’s shop. Last I spoke with Greg (before his trip to Jim’s) the pipe was just a install with nothing else required (fuel controller, timing etc) so I’m not 100% if riming is still left alone or not until I speak to Greg or Jim. Once I do I’ll post more info.
I do have a couple on order for a couple guys. Once I get them I’ll also post about how the install went and how how they perform in the steep and deep.

Thanks for the info, I’d be curious to hear more.

I’ll probably talking to both of them sometime over this weekend and will let you know what they say. Will also let as know when I install the two and try them. Rich’s pipe made a solid 7HP I do believe it was on a similar dyno run at his facility. Definitely power to be made on this engine.

So is the 850 just running that rich? Pipe leaning it out to make some extra hp?
Wonder if some fuel was pulled from stock set up and would make gains?
Rich tends to be pretty straight up from my findings.

We’ll find out soon enough. Yes, I never had any issues with Greg or Rich. I knew Rich’s claim about the total redesign was false as I already knew of the Shark pipe coming. Both are totally different builders though especially with pipes. Maybe following the stock design Rich couldn’t add and HP so he changed the entire layout to achieve his gains? His pipe is definitely totally different looking.

I do believe it’s possible to get 10+ hp, but at what cost? Rich has been doing this for a very long time and he must know something that he does not want to disclose or talk about.

Imo those dyno number are about 6hp too high. Thats a very strong running stocker, to get 170.
I do find it interesting that there is a head that’s claiming 12hp, now a pipe that claims 10+. Did Doo really leave that much on the table with this engine? Im definitely curious and skeptical at the sametime. Get that combo together with a fuel controller and holy smokes 185 hp for under 2g.

Ill test one for yah lol, clutching doesnt lie.
Ive had a bad experience with a pipe made from a very reputable company. It ripped at 3000ft but wouldn’t work at altitude, after about 2 months of back and forth tuning etc, they took the pipe back.

Jim has the details up in his page now. The sled on stock run (used trade in sled) produced 170HP. Jaws pipe and y 180HP. The long dyno run at 184HP is timing advanced 2 degrees. Jim is going to be doing more tests with a new sled as well to make sure this used sled they used has nothing else done to it.

Hard to say? The pipe might only work with stock head and that head might only work with stock pipe. PF did say he was going to dyno again with a few pipe combos. Jaws, DynoPort and there was another as well. Gonna be bad ass if both make gains added together.
