I got kind of suspicious when I never received a call back, and the shortness of his original email. This is what I have this morning in my alias email that I use for sales items.

Total scam, Had the same thing happen to me with my fifth wheel camper. Guy wanted to pay me for shipping and wire it to his shipping company in Scotland. NO SHAT. He said he was at sea in the navy and wanted to by it for his dads birthday. the transaction was to take place through PayPal I phone paypal and they confirmed that the email he was using was bogus.

The fact that they type with an accent didn't throw me off at all. LOL

Sounds like they send you a bogus cheque and you wire them money before you find out that the cheque is bogus... that is if you are dumb enough to fall for these scams. Always buy in person after checking the VIN.

haha, same thing when i was selling my street bike on ebay and kijiji. "please send the bike to japan, when we confirm its on route we will wire the money."

Unfortunately these scammers are every where. The worst is the guy who gives you a CERTIFIED bank draft for something. The problem is it ain't! Your only real protection is due diligence and if you are taking a bank draft get ALL their info, ie Drivers license, Birth certificate etc. less likely to try and scam you. I was selling a truck and a guy tried to trade me a hot sled. The best on is the idiot who is selling two quads with trailer and plow attatchment. Deal was was too good to be true. They suck you in until you want to see the units, then the " I am not in the country at the moment but if you send you money to such and such and if you get the units and you don't like it you can always send it back for a full refund" comes out. Yeah right! Can we shoot scammers???

Bank draft is a better way to go but not fool proof. Wife worked for ATB and they saw fake ones quite a bit. In my opinion cash is best way to go.

Bank draft is not considered 'garuanteed funds' you can cancel a bank draft same as putting a 'stop payment' on a cheque...I did not know this. Wire transfer is about the only garanteed funds anymore other than cash...

I know, I didnt believe this either, but ask your bank...
