FAQ
You don't need to bring anything. Maybe a few dollars in cash.
"Friends of the CAC" memberships will be available to purchase for $20. Friends receive ~ 4 newsletters/year to keep them in touch with the events and news coming out of the avalanche world. By joining as a "Friend" it helps the CAC to grow membership leading to a stronger presence in the eyes of the public funders. Very important as the Public Avalanche Bulletins (basically these are road reports for the mountains), Avalanche Awareness Events and the recreational based courses are all supported with a mixture of Public dollars and private donations.
Sledding in Avalanche Terrain books for $15.
AVALUATORS will also be for sale for a special price of $10. The Avaluator is a decision making tool. It is a card and guidebook that leads you through gathering information and observations before and during your trip to the mountains. By being more aware of the predicted and actual stability and weather conditions, and looking at this in conjunction with the type of terrain that you are choosing, the Avaluator will help you to acknowledge a recommended level of caution for your planned venture.
Both the Sledding in Avy... books and Avaluators are free to all students that register for a 16 hour Introductory avalanche class.
See you there!
