In Minot, ND, everyone was originally to be out of the evacuation zone by last night at 6pm. Water started topping the dykes in the morning, and people were forced out by just before 1pm. Most were ready though, as they already had to evacuate a month ago for the record run-off. Predicted water levels are nearly 6ft higher than the all time recorded high level. There's no sandbagging for that. The city diked what they could and have tried to protect necessary infrastructure, but who knows? My old lady lucked out and got done her Masters degree at Minot State in early May.

A real good collection of pictures on this blog.

what we thot was a chit show, aint gonna show up for another month or more. then it will be a chit show beyond anyones wildest thots. We have no idea on what to get ready for. you rite, you can sand bag for whats coming. sand bang dikes: for every 1 foot up, you need 3 foot base. just aint gonna happen: 8 ft high dike, 24 ft wide!

Fawk! You may as well just pack up and get out of Dodge. Even with sandbagging you most likely will have water damage. Pretty disheartening for you guys I'm sure.:(:(:(

water is a fear but to be honest its the ice that will destroy. if water levels dont drop by freeze up (it is VERY doubtful they will) the ice from the thaw will finish us off. Why the gov't cant see that i dont know. Maybe deferring fear till next year? but with the lake levels where they are rite now and another 2-3 ft to come, like said, what the water doesnt get the ice will get that and more.

Here's hoping for record setting heat this summer so you guys can get water levels as low as possible.
