flipping trailer axles

I watched a few vids on youtube and see everyone welding on new supports on there axles. WHats the point? why not roll the axle over and use the ones already there.

Well if it has brakes they would be upside down as not all backing plates can be flipped and most axles are offset at the hubs and sometimes just rolling it would give you more lift than you want or not enough depending on which way you were going.

Plus the axles are bent to provide camber.
