My brother And I went up to Calling Lake to his cabin last weekend for Dad & Son ride. We rode 80 miles of cutlines and trails over two days and the little guys were as happy as pigs in mud :d Not even a whimper after riding all day. They sure slept hard on Saturday night though

Looks like a nice family outing. I thought all cats carried their kittens by the scruff of the neck. HAHA Nice to see the family pics keep them coming.

While we were riding one of the cutlines, we came accross this big friken rock right in the middle of the cutline partially buried in the tall grass. We wrapped a winch cable around it and yanked it off the trail so no one else might hit it and ruin their weekend... quaddin or sleddin. It was a good sized rock probably 600 lbs, that could cause a lot of damage . We pulled a few others off the same cutline as well. Where these big Azz rocks come from who knows... But we got ridd of a few and maybe saved some one from alot of damage or injury? :)

Wonder what would have happened if you would have hit that rock with no helmet on? Were supposed to be teaching our kids to be resposible. Sorry for the rant, I just had a friend that got hurt real bad because he wouldn't wear a helmet, I just wish everybody would wear them. I've heard of alot of injuries this year alone because of no helmet.

Here we go... this thread was intended to show that I had a great time with my boys out in the great out doors. Not intended to stir up a "helmut" issue. First of all, I'm on the green atv, my boy has a helmut. Secondly... we were crawling around all day... slowly and safely. We removed the rock from the trail because we were aware of the danger it could inflict on some other riders. My kids never ride without helmuts.

Thanks for your concern :)... Do you ride with your helmut on everytime you saddle up?

Right on Scotty, awesome pics and i totally agree with you on the helmet issue. As long as we teach the kids from day one to wear a helmet, they will understand why on rides like the one you just shared with us daddy does'nt wear one. I'm sure when the kids get a little older and your goin a little faster you will wear one. I also understand the concern people have but if every time we post a picture and not wearing a helmut we get a guilt trip, people are gonna stop posting pics. Again, great to see you guys out with the kids.

Yes, this was what I use to do as well, my kids always wore a helmet but I have to admit I didn't as we would be just crawling around but now that they're older and our speed is a LITTLE faster, both kids and dad wear a helmet all the time.

Great pics BTW, the wife and I were out last weekend with the kids and had a great ride as well. They grow up to fast.

We obviously share the same perspective :) Could'nt have said it better myself. Lilke you.. I am a "Helmut" advocate. When the ride gets aggressive or hilly the helmut is always on... Dads and kids. I always ride with good judgment... Espeacially with kids.

Some veiwing this thread may judge me based on a few pictures and thats OK. It creates positive awareness to the "helmut" issue I guess. Great reminder for all of us. :)

:) You're right... they do grow up too fast! :d And yes.. Dad and kids should wear the skid lid at all times.

Scotty I think you probally saved more lives by removing those rock than wearing a helmet. Even though helmet us is a no brainer trail work to improve riding for others is a BIG Thing for me. Thanks for the trail work Scotty and friends and kids. Show them young how to help with trails and they will do it for life.

Everytime we stopped to winch a rock off the trail (only three times) the kids got a bit of an education... they also got to work the winch switch. :)

Yur right... probably prevented more missery by removing a trail hazzard (big stinkin rocks by the way) then the helmut thing.

Helmuts are a must... I agree. But smokin one of those monster rocks on the trail would really suck. Major pain.

I'm not trying to start something, I just know what can happen and it's not always in our control. You can be going slow and someone comes around a corner going fast and hit's you or you can be going slow and get into a hole or a small hill and the machine comes over and you get a handle bar in the head or hit your head on a rock. I do wear my helmet everywhere, kid's are very impressionable and don't always do as their told. Kids will say to them selves, heck I don't need a helmet, I know Dad said I had to wear it, but he doesn't and he's the coolest guy in the world so when he can't see me I'm not wearing it. Not saying this is your particular situation but we need to lead our kids by example. I had a friend hurt bad. He was just going for a short, slow ride to warm up his machine so he didn't wear his helmet. Dirt riders magazine won't even post a pic of a moving machine if the rider has no helmet on. Sorry for the rant but I've been doing this for a while and seen a lot of injuries. Just a couple of weeks ago a 9 year old was killed with no helmet on. Not rying to dis you Scotty I'm just trying to make a point for the young riders coming up in our sport.

Ditto...

Nothing beats taking the boys out for an early spring/Fall ride. Not too hot, get to stop and chase frogs, pick wild bluberries & raspberries. If you've never heard a 5 yr old laugh after hitting a massive water/mud hole....you're missing one of the biggest pleasures an ATV can bring!!! or as I've heard..."Dad, that was the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE"..LOL
