Some people say you should stop every 20 min or so to let your belt/engine cool down when you're really pushing them hard - hill climbing or pushing through deep powder.

Others say there's no need for that.

What do you guys do?

Chances are that if you are pushing it hard you will have to stop for a rest anyway.

It depends on your sled, some vent better than others. The motors for the most part can take a lot of work, it is the clutching you need to worry about. If your clutches get too hot performance and belt life will suffer. Usually with mountain riding its the long, repetitive climbs in quick succession that can heat the clutches up good. But if boondocking, I find I wear out before the sled gets too hot!
