Think of this the next time you start complaining or hear someone complain about their 1st world problems or long lines at the drive through

Imagine you were born in 1900.

When you are 14, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday with 22 million people killed.
Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until you are 20.
Fifty million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million.

When you're 29, the Great Depression begins.
Unemployment hits 25%, global GDP drops 27%.
That runs until you are 33.
The country nearly collapses along with the world economy.

When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet.
When you're 41, the United States is fully pulled into WWII.
Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war and the Holocaust kills six million.

At 52, the Korean War starts and five million perish.

At 64 the Vietnam War begins, and it doesn’t end for many years.
Four million people die in that conflict.

Approaching your 62nd birthday you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, could well have ended. Great leaders prevented that from happening.

As you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends.

Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. 🤔

How do you survive all of that?

A kid in 1985 didn’t think their 85 year old grandparent understood how hard school was. Yet those grandparents (and now great grandparents) survived through everything listed above.

Perspective is an amazing art. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. 👍

Let’s be smart, help each other out, and we will get through all of this. 🔥

In the history of the world, there has *never* been a storm that lasted.

This too, shall pass."

That definitely puts it into perspective.. Now our latest generation cannot go out and do the simplest job as its to hard for them and they feel they are entitled! THe ones that went though the above are the ones that are entitled to what ever they want not the millennials of today

I am a Gen X guy, married to a Millennial woman, who has worked with many millennials, and has millenial friends, and now some employees from the same generation.
Many are great people, work hard, intelligent, and don't just get the job done, but do a great job.
Painting an entire generation as bad, because some are, is a tremendous mistake.

Every generation has had its group of useless idiots, including those born in 1900, or the 1940s like my parents were. Some people who were around me when I was a kid, born in the 30's, 40's, 50's were fat lazy slobs, who thought 20 minutes of work a year was too much.
Some of them are/were my relatives and neighbors.

My wife recently turned 28, and she is super high energy, works hard, brilliant mind, and can out work most men I've met.
Last week I fired a guy from the boomer generation, he was lazy, incompetent, and just didn't give a crap.
He did less than any millenial that I know.
Me, I am 53, and trust me there are a lot of dead beats around my age.

We may be 25.5 years apart in age, but we get along great, and my wife is also my best friend.

My point is, many millenials work hard, have great morals and ethics, and make wonderful employees or business owners.
I agree there are lots of really good younger people out there, we have one here now doing night checks, amazing worker!

I found out last year that at 39, I am considered a millennial. How disappointing that was.

Minus my latest stint of short term disability (off since June), I have never missed work, or taken fake sick days or anything like that. Have a very good job and have been working since before I was a teenager.

My wife, 7 years younger, who is definitely a millennial, is now a stay at home mom. At first it was very hard for her because she also has never not worked and has never relied on anyone...and her bank accounts show it. She's "working" harder now, raising our son, trying to start a small business and we are doing renovations as well.

You are correct, some get a bad rep. There are lazy people in every age group.

Take a close look at who is running this country and the folks that voted him and his policies in then without stuttering repeat what you just said.

Most unfortunately I too fall into the millennial category. The great thing about making a general statement is yes you can paint everyone with the same brush, if you or someone you know is the exception to the rule then hold your head high and be proud
